Terminator hasn't used the r-rating to full effect since the first one. The violence in T2 and T3 was PG-13 level stuff. The only thing you'll really be losing is the f-bombs.

That said, this movie was shaping up like a train wreck well before this announcement.

The only thing saving this movie is Christian Bale. We'll see.

I'll wait for the dvd. I did that with Die Hard 4, and it worked out fine.

McClane was dropping f-bombs left and right.

To be fair, the theatre version of Die Hard 4 was still pretty good. The uncut version is obviously better, but still, I've seen worse.

    Truth!
I found it so odd that when T2 aired on network television that 95% of the violence was still intact (blowing out kneecaps) but most of the profanity was censored.

We have the most screwed up value system here in America.

I'm on the fence, but I will wait until we see a bit more before I pass any judgement.

Bale is the shit, so hopefully I will love the flick.

I'll second the love for Christian Bale, and I haven't seen any of his work that I haven't really enjoyed, so there's hope yet. That said, I think they need to go the Rambo IV route and crank the insanity to 11. I can't wait for the BluRay release later this month.

Also, I thoroughly enjoyed Die Hard 4, and thought it was still a pretty intense action flick. It was just the way I like them, completely unbelieveable *coughCommandocough*

I have always thought T-2 was all they needed, I have no interest in any more Terminator anything.

Agreed. Only reason I am bothering with it. This is the same reason I refused to see Live Free or Die Hard when it came out (that and the fact it is not a Die Hard film. I'm sorry but completely over the top action=/=Die Hard).

Christian Bale is the only reason I want to see this movie.

While I love the Terminator franchise and I'm a huge fan of Bale, I've had very mixed feelings about this project from the early reports. It sounds like rather than a genuine attempt to continue the story, the studio is looking for easy money in the bank which is never a good sign. The one redeeming factor it has going is Bale's judgment. If he feels its good enough to sign on, then hopefully he won't let us down.

With Bale onboard it wont suck. At least, that's been the trend so far, rating be damned. Bale FTW.

Yeah, most of my thoughts on T4 are 90% "This looks like SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT" and 10% "Would Christian Bale dare attach himself to a BAD movie?" In other words, any "hope" I have for this movie is based squarely on good old fashion faith in Christian Bale.

I think JoBlo said it best when he said that the press release about PG-13 T4 was just some producer's way of stammering, "Warner Bros. told us to make a PG-13 movie otherwise they wouldn't touch it with a 10-ft. pole."

Didn't this franchise already die in the early-mid nineties somewhere?

I didn't know there was going to be a 4th Terminator movie. Then I hear it's going to take place in the future and I'm all like yay!

Then I hear it's PG-13 and now thats all like... yay?

You know, I hadn't really thought about that before, but it's true. If you submitted T2 to the MPAA today with only the majority of the swearing scrubbed I don't think it would have any problem pulling down a PG13.

As for T4, all my hope was killed when they announced McG was directing.

Yes, yes it did, it went out with a bang in T2 as it's like the Godfather 2 of Sci-fi/action movies. unfortuanly they dug up the corpes in 2002-3 and did this big retarted thing where now the events of T2 mean nothing as Jujgement Day took place anyway.
