Now this is something really astounding. A fanmade CGI Optimus Prime that looks completely believable for a movie. It was done by a fan named blasphemy3_d from the CG Society Forums. This render, with accompanying movie files, shows just how good a Transformers movie can look. Even more amazing than the faked leaked footage from before.

THIS IS IN NO WAY PART OF THE UPCOMING MOVIE. But is still worth a look. The thread in question can be seen By Clicking Here. There you will find hi-res renders and a few video files.

We have mirrored the 17 MB AVI.

Awesome and realistic CGI that translates the transformation of the toy well... except that, well, when translated into reality that way, the robot's actual design isn't very... good. I mean, the hands just pop out of an arm that's not thick enough to contain them.

I just noticed that. It's awesome, but little bits like that can bring it down.

Absolutely amazing, I really hope professional CGI artists create something as good.
When I saw the title first - I thought it was just another fan made CGI, yet when I started watching, I realized how huge this is. I hope I dont sound like a total geek, but this CGI is so beautiful that it almost opens up a whole new fantasy world and throws you in it.
Cannot wait to see the movie (PRO CGI artists with pro equipment cough, cough)...

This is a really nice piece of animation work. I really like the realism of the whole thing (even down the semi-jerkiness of the viewer's perspective). Part of me wants to see the bright red[ness] of the G1 Prime, but a part of me also is enjoying the muted pallete choice of this Prime as it further adds to the urban, gritty feel of realism. The hands have been noted, but everything else seems plausible. :thumbs2:

This animation makes me re-appreciate the original transform of the G1 Prime, though ever since we got MP-01Convoy/20th Optimus Prime, I really enjoy that transform just as much (and sometimes even more so now). Overall excellent though, and I can hardly believe that in just a few days (!) we are going to see a live action motion picture of our beloved Transformers! :rock

(BTW, is this the same animator who created the Alternators Camshaft? The animation style is a bit similar if it is not.)

WHOA. Wait a minute. Did I miss an announcement or something?

On-topic, I'd like to say that the CGI artist gets A+, absolutely 100% A-freakin-double-plus for his work. It looks EXACTLY like a truck based on the G1 version of the toy.

I'd also like to say that this complaint does not reflect on the CGI artist's skill: I wish he had gone for a better-looking version of Prime. I'm talking about the toy-version of the head, the thin arms, etc. But this is really nit picking. THAT WAS AMAZING!
