Just clicked over for first time. Won't be clicking back to that blog thanks to the borderline trollery of the shitty comments of folks stuck in the past.

Great work geniuses, get with the times.

    This.

I know we complain about "softball" questions, but whoever wrote the questions above is a real @$$hole! :banghead:  The word is called "TACT". As in, you can ask a hard question WITHOUT insulting the interviewee or calling his work utter garbage! :rolleyes2

Some of these answers are so defensive, and I can't blame the guy.

When TF fans walk out into public (or ask public questions), it'd be nice if they didn't behave like basement trolls.

Are these international questions? The grammar is pretty atrocious...

I also love that most of the "questions" are actually thinly veiled INSULTS or expressions of HATRED. :lol  I mean, fine, you don't LOVE the show. But telling Mr. Beechen directly hardly seems constructive when you could be specific about what you did or did not like! :)
    Some thoughts to the directives...
    1) SERIALIZED IS GOOD! The standalone episode technique is only good for newbies, but actually fails on a lot of fronts. There's no story arc to keep people watching, for one thing. Most of the RID episodes are so fluffy and meaningless because everything just resets every episode! :(  This is exactly how you lose viewers! Unless you're doing some sort of comedy program... but even then, some consistency and character progression is necessary/beneficial.

    2) Don't underestimate your viewers: they're not idiots! I'm pretty tired of tv executives making their content as benign and easy-to-digest as possible. So the main directive seems to be, "don't get the audience to think" or "NEVER challenge your audience to figure anything out!" That's horrible. Don't treat your viewers like victims of a head trauma! :banghead:  It's okay to challenge them or feature lore that requires a little RESEARCH. You're NOT asking them to take a drive to the largest library in their State! Literally, all information can be found at home, via the INTERNETS. It's not hard. Your elementary school student can do this, Mr. Beechen (and Hasbro).

Has he ever heard of forums or Wiki's?

    3) The new characters were actually great! :thumb  That part was a great idea. But I did notice that Sideswipe is basically an archetype with very little unique qualities (other than, "you're a sports car who's reckless and brash! WOO!" :rolleyes2 ). Bumblebee, likewise, suffered from PRIME-itus: he talked and behaved exactly like Optimus Prime because he was the "leader". RID showed BB struggling with the leadership role, but he is basically yellow-Optimus! :banghead:  For the love of God, he even uses the SAME CATCH PHRASE (despite claiming to want to use his own!) - "Let's rev up and ROLL OUT!" :rolleyes2  Way to push the envelope, RID? :rolleyes2  (Incidentally, when you show BB "failing" at coming up with a good catchphrase, are you being "funny" or just showing us you had trouble thinking of something new and catchy?)

    4) Absolutely EXCELLENT. Prime was TOO gritty. And it was sporadically so. I could not tell if it was for kids or older teenagers.  The stuff with Airachnid was absolutely horrific for young viewers, so I feel RID was much more successful on this front. Unfortunately, the stuff with Russel and Denny seems to have been dropped rather quickly, and I feel that's unfortunate because they added a lot of humor and light-heartedness to the program. Heck, what happened to Russel's female/love interest from Season 1??? But in RID's defense, the nonsense with the costumes was wearing thin, so mercifully, that was also cut down. :rolleyes2  Wow. "Humans-in-disguise" is just a terrible premise.

Just wanted to chime in and agree with the posters above that whoever wrote/submitted those questions were assholes, and not very good writers either. I'm surprised he even tolerated and responded to some of those.

one of the fans sort of apologized. It didn't make up for the fact they kind of proved exactly why Hasbro and anyone involved with properties choose not to get involved with the fandom. We had a chance to get real insider knowledge and we wasted it on whining about prime, which I might ad people bitched about when IT was around for not being animated.

See kids some stereotypes exist for a reason.

    A better TF program?

I think a show should always start with the characters - for TFs, this is especially true/relevant because there are so many great characters to use! And using some of the older characters is a great way to get older fans excited about your show (and that's never a bad thing).

But when creating the new show, PLEASE THINK OF CHARACTER RELEVANCE!

Stop using the same 5 character archetypes:
    A) The leader - boring and rigid because his only motivations are being proper and doing the right thing. :rolleyes2

    B) The lumbering idiot - i.e. Bulkhead, Grimlock: they're there for comedic relief and to show how hard it is to be an Autobot. Basically, the comedic FAT GUY. :rolleyes2

    C) The loudmouth who needs more humility - your basic jack@$$ character who's there to teach us that being loud and proud is ultimately foolish

    D) The GIRL: mostly there for the sake of diversity, but usually just blends into the background and has no distinctive "girl" qualities or interests - she's a male, essentially, except that we're told she's a "girl". :rolleyes2

    E) The Wise man: i.e. Ratchet, Drift - a character who supposedly has a wealth of experience to impart, yet SELDOM ACTUALLY IMPARTS ANYTHING. They also blend into the background, being too great and wise to actually be relevant. They don't suffer from obnoxious arrogance, so there's nothing to do with them.

    Did I miss anything?

There's just a lot more room for characterization than that. And every "new" TF show seems to be using the same characters (while also claiming to be doing something "new"). :banghead:

Except having not even seen the show, I know that Bumblebee is the same exact character from Prime and that not only is Starscream supposed to be the same guy, but that at one point they even splice in an image of Prime Starscream as RID Starscream recounts his past.

Also, people incessantly whining about shit? Welcome to the Transformers fandom.

Funny, I'd actually disagree on the whole 'reboot' thing if we look at how far Hasbro is willing to drive the franchise into the dirt simply to avoid rebooting the movie division.

Discussions around here aren't always civil, but thank god it never falls to the level of the people in that comments section. Literally socially dead people there. It's insanity.

Thank god Prime is dead, if only to cause those mentally unstables folks an extra bit of strife, and may they ever whine about the fact that RID had 4 seasons and 70+ episodes while every single show that isn't G1 or Rescue Bots failed to get that far.

RiD was in a pretty bad catch 22 situation. Hasbro wanted a more accessible show. And that's ultimately fine and their decision. But by also making it part of the same continuity, they raised a great number of questions.

People like us want to know what happened to Raf and Fowler and Bulkhead and such. Kids just starting TFs with this show just want to see 'bee fight the bad guys.

There's a lot more I'd like to see and know, but it's still an enjoyable enough show.

It's like humans are actually interesting in YEP anyway.

I'm really sad that aligned verse is ended. RID is pretty decent show. Season 3 of RID is awesome and everything gets better on each episodes. Characters that were claimed to be stupid and terrible in previous seasons has become lovable characters. Grimlock is actually cute and cuddly now. Sideswipe and Strongarm relationship is more interesting. Bee is not bland at all. He isn't Optimus Prime 2. If so, he would be a really boring character who looks stoic while speaking some generic badass monologues. He leads team in his own way.

Seriously, I felt RID shows us more family feeling to the Autobots than Prime. In Prime, they were just brothers in arms or co-workers while RID, they're close to each other they have more interaction that shows warm and connections. Especially since the episode "Exiles" , Autobots had more feelings than the 1st EP of TFP season 3.

Yeah, I'm aware that what I said sounds stupid and looks like just an another RID protective comment. But that's what I actually thought, a personal view of mine.

Now Cyberverse is coming and I'm excited.

I hope it's not an actual G1-inspired/reboot. Machinima's CW still left a bad taste in my mouth and probably will never gone away.

Jesus fucking Christ, why are so many people intent on riding Mr. Beechen so hard like this? I loved Prime too, but I know that harrassing the creator of the current show isn\'t gonna bring it back. And to think, people say our site has annoying users...

I'm not sure if everyone realizes it but this very forum is chock full of the same assholes as that blog is. Only here there not singing the praises of Prime its how awful the show was.

And by hell don't even think of disagreeing with them. I have all but stopped coming here because of all the bickering and rudeness you can only block so many people before the site just isn't fun.
