A friend of mine wants a tattoo that says 'Free Spirit' in Japanese, but we are unable to find what this looks like. Is there any kind soul out there who can help me? Thanks
Im getting a tattoo that says Im cool in English and it's gonna be surrounded by a cool tribal design because that's cool too!
tell the tattoo guy that and he'll probably put "i have butt sex with your small furry rodents!" in Kanji on you. then you'll get that look....you know the one
Hahaha. I always wondered if people in China and Japan get tattoos in English and put up with their friends asking "Is that what it REALLY means?"
Ha, I remember reading an article in which some guy got a tattoo of Chinese characters which he thought meant 'Duty, Honour, Courage' - and it actually read 'at the end of the day, what an ugly person'! I'm not a big fan of tattoos personally - I wonder why... Gary
I believe that foreign symbols/words and someone other than a family members name are the two things that no one should ever have tattooed on them.
He is trusting you to get the right information, of a translation of a language that he does not understand, off of a message board that has people that may or may not be telling the truth (ie. perfect strangers of a friend), and then he is going to take said information and permanently affix it to his body? This, to me, is the penultimate idiocy. Oh well, we all have our stupid moments, I just hope that he doesn't regret this one.
For that matter, do they ever get bad information about the english word, get a tattoo that supposedly says something cool, only to get 'Asshat' printed on their arm?
Id double check that symbol first. Maybe PM someone Japanese and JUST ask him what it means. If his description matches then go for it. We have alot of jokers here
http://hwr.nici.kun.nl/unipen/kanji/english.html you can always double-check it. the site i went to is listed above. ofcouse a quick google search and that was the first site. Not to mention the fact that i have had 3 years of japanese. My sources could be out of date. either way. you can also go to a local college that has japanese as a forign lang. and ask the instructor or one of the teaching aids. if ink is involved, god forbid i gave you the wrong Kanji, and i must have a reputation for being a joker.
