I decided not to bid. It's a very rare piece in pretty nice condition, but the box (arguablly the most important part of the piece) has some damage, in particular on part of the artwork. And I'm guessing it wouldn't have become so expensive if it hadn't been posted about on the board. (I've seen another example of this where a test-shot Seaspray on Yahoo Japan didn't sell for $20 the first time around and then someone posted on TFW about it the second time around and then it went for several hundred.) Oh well. I'll keep hunting.

Very nice piece. I was watching also, but $700+ is alittle too steep for my wallet these days.

 

drooooooll, yeah if only the box didn't have that unfortunate tear and triple taping on one side, the corners wouldn't be so bad.

oh man, i want to read that prime comic.

and the bumper sticker is homage to this movie called "trucker yaro" released in '75...it was about this truck driver with a heavily decorated truck that caused a HUGE truck-love fad in japan, you can google dekotora and see some of the craziness.

It looks like he he may be placing a really high bid on the auction to see what the current bidder's high bid is so that he can then retract it and when he bids again, ever-so-slightly outbid the high bidder. I don't really see the advantage.

 

If I ever saw anyone doing that on an auction of mine, I'd cancel their new bid and block them from bidding again.
