so a long time ago I was really into anime, and rented a great one in the video store: wings of honneamise. I loved it--not over the top sci-fi, or overly spiritual, just a good story. there was also one I had heard great things about that I almost got from a dvd club called grave of the fireflies, about japan and the atomic bombs. I never got around to buying it though. just this weekend, I managed to get both of them, and thought I'd bring up some memories and see what others thought of them.

I was just checking out the difference between the subtitled text and the english voices in wings of honneamise, and I actually like the dub better!

it's funny, because I started out watching the dubbed stuff by manga corp., and so I don't mind the US voice actors, as long as they do a *listenable* job.

Honneamise was great stuff. Saw it years ago when the Space Channel was playing anime every Friday.

I love both of these movies.

Grave of the Fireflys is awesome but very depressing. Very sad story.

Wings is great but man the new remastered DVD/Blueray set is highway robbery!

Yeah, it sure isn't a feelgood movie. Good animation, but horribly depressing.
