So I was watching Transwarped and despite being rendered speechless by its amazingness, I noticed that they never called Judd Nelson's character Rodimus PRIME. It has been said before that he is Rodimus Prime (I think...), but it seemed odd to me that the rank of "Prime" was never associated with him in the episode.

    for example:

When Rodimus called the Elite Guard, he didn't say "Prime" when talking about himself.
"Rodimus [ ] to Elite Guard command!"

And then Jazz called him just "Rodimus" again without the "Prime."
    "Stay cool Rodimus [ ]!"

I was wondering if anyone had a screen cap of the credits with it saying "Rodimus PRIME" or if ya'll think his promotion will be a later plot point in the series. Perhaps "Three's a Crowd" refers to the three Primes after all...hummm...could be.

    Ebay:
Optimus, Sentinal, Longarm, Rodimus - that would make it 4, so i dont think threes a crowd will be about the prime issue

I don't think he was referred to as Rodimus PRIME at all, but as previously stated, being a "Prime" in Animated isn't as big of a deal as it was in G1. It probably means that that character is the leader of his (her?) group.

It's not like there's a Matrix of Leadership in Animated or anything...

Unless Magnus has it and the Matrix holder's title becomes "Magnus".

I think everyone's just calling him Rodimus Prime because that was his name in G1 and having Hot Rod and Hot Shot in the same place at the same time would be confusing for all involved...

Then again, since Hasbro can't call a character "Hot Rod" anymore, he could very well just be named "Rodimus".

He did seem to be the one in charge of that battle group since if I remember right he gave the order to fall back.

He should be a Prime, seeing as one of the Autobots he leads is Ironhide, who's in the Elite Guard.

He should be a Prime, if only because it would be a waste to not use one of the phew characters who were Primes in the past as a Prime.

My guess is that his name IS Rodimus Prime, but that like the other Primes everyone tends to skip over the 'Prime' part. Like how Optimus and Sentinel are usually just called Optimus and Sentinel.

    This.

You have to admit, Rodimus isn't exactly a roll-off-the-tounge name, adding Prime to the end just makes it impractical in the situation there.

Maybe he's only a major and gets a field promotion

The end credits refer to him as "Rodimus" only. No Major. No Prime. I'm sure if he were a Prime, they'd have mentioned it somehow.

Perhaps what happened was that Rodimus was intended to be Rodimus Prime but Hasbro vetoed it. It'd be a post season 1-2 decision hence the existence of the other Primes (and Shockwave's packaging only refers to Longarm, not Longarm Prime). But there would be no further Primes, making Optimus Prime the only Prime to be released going forward.

With the movie coming up, it's possible Hasbro wants to make the "Prime" identity a major part of the Optimus name.

Sentinel Prime was credited as nothing but Sentinel in some episodes too.

I seem to remember this debate over Sentinel since he wasn't referenced as Sentinel Prime on the show for some time after his initial appearance. As for Rodimus, he is the leader of his unit, he is "seemingly on the fast track to becoming Magnus", and he is referenced as Rodimus Prime in his tech specs (as mentioned earlier).

Come on, folks. He's Rodimus Prime.

I'm not really sure if this counts as evidence, but
the last time Derrick mentioned the bot in question on his Tweeter feed.
He refered to him as.. Roddy. Ok, that doesn't count.

The time before that it was "Rodimus Prime".
