This will be a couple part question

The end of this year, into 2008 i'm am looking to buy some G1 combiners and was looking for some help on what to look for when trying to buy a good toy.

    1. How tall should it be?: The ones I were looking at were 8.5 inches tall and according to the seller were the same height as the original G1. To me this didn't sound right because not only is that small, but I was sure that the original combiners were alot bigger.

    Which bring me to this

can someone give me the info on the quality of these types of toys like the one in the pic?

Also when the time comes..Is there a board member who can help me get ahold of ones like Predaking,Menasor, and Defensor?

That's childhood memory working against you. Most combiners really weren't too big. Devastator in particular is dwarfed by Scramble City guys and Predaking. And Monstructor? Forget about it.

Oh man. :lol  I eagerly anticipate the hilarious responses.

stick with originals is all I can say.

most of the combiners if you want them 100% and in good condition will cost you a bit over $100. The more expensiv ones will be Predaking and of course Piranacon. Dunno about their value but Piranacon complete can easaly break the 170 mark.

That Dev. KO pictured is extreme crap. Only buy it if you REALLY need a complete Dev. ASAP, it is almost guaranteed to break somewhere on the first transform.

I was very impressed with , and purchased the mini KO Combiners, they are in perfect scale with G1 Metroplex. Has-Tak-Tom could have made a mint doing this.

One of these days I've got to apply the Reprolabels to Mini-Superion! :D

Invest in some rubber cement and/or super glue. Otherwise, as cheap as you can usually find KOs, it really can't hurt.

Ones like that are very low quality reproductions/ko's.

They feel very cheap and fall apart. For combiner KOs, Devastator is for the most part the only one that is in heavy rotation in G1 colours and with the right limbs. A lot of the other ones use crazy colours and mix and match the limbs and parts from the real combiners.

Don't settle for the first auction you see either. I got a C9 Piranacon 100% complete for $88 shipped about three years ago.

Actually, with the Mini Combiners, the "Defensor" is really a repro of Operation Combination Guard City from 1992.

    http://www.tf-1.com/articles/jtf/guardcity_template.html

and only "Menasor" was stuck with two Computron limbs.

The only KOs I've found that are decent are the Walgreens ones. The one pictured, like Triple M said is utter crap.

I bought the KO due to having retrieved all of my original Constructicons from a younger cousin of mine, but none of the parts. The KO pieces helped hold him together while I've slowly attained replacement parts.

Not true, Abominus (spelling ?) KO came with the other 2 Computron limbs.

    ^Seconded^

You can probably still find Devistator in the G2 colors at Big Lots for about 5-6 bucks along with Protectobots & Aerialbots.

Stand corrected then, never saw the Abominus KO. Hmm, if four Computron limbs exist, why can't they make Computron?

Cause they're retards not too. And they probably lost the Scattorshot mold and the Computron pieces.

I've often wondered the same thing. It seems like I remeber seeing a couple of good quality Computron KOs for sale/trade here on the boards, but don't see why they have never made the low quality ones like they've done with Devy, Menasor, ect., especially if they already have all four limbs made out of the "cheap stuffs".

*I have a slight affinity for KOs*

    Combo deals

After owning Devastator (G1 ver.) for years now, the only reason i can give for owning him is i needed a baddie for Omega and Metro to play with.

    i hate his assembly

i bought KOs that came in easter baskets as the Church Of Sam (wal-mart) for cannabalizing.

and let me warn you, KOs are not the only combiners that are sometimes crappy.
i have a TF Universe Superion set and one of the bots broke on the first transformation.

my opinion is stick to originals, buy KOs for parts and be happy.
