OH. MY. GOD. Growing up, my brothers and I had our horror movie killer wars with each other with who was better. My older brother was the Jason fanboy, my younger bother was the Michael fanboy and I was the Freddy fangirl. I can't WAIT.
Sounds fucking awesome. Wait, 'dark and serious'? But...Freddy's dark humor made him so awesome. I dunno, it sounds good, but the 'dark and serious' sounds like this will be yet another "Torture porn and grimdark tone are all important!!!!!" horror movie.
Yep! I think it's actually the choice I would go for to step into Englund's shoes but Englund is still the man. I just saw a trailer online but it's not the official one. Still, it looks pretty cool. This is the info from it, though: I read on July 24th that a teaser was released but I haven't been able to find it, unless they mistook this video for the real thing. Whoever played Freddy in this piece looks fat, though.
I'm conflicted. While the Nightmare movies are my favorite horror flicks, particularly 1 and 3, this has me very intrigued. With that said, I'm also wary that it's going to be shit. Based on the new info and pics, I have high hopes. We'll see when the teaser comes out.
I remember hearing that and literally coming close to tears. At least Jackey Earl Haley has the look and sound to do it. Awesome choice.
Agreed. If it weren't for the fact I knew beforehand that this was a remake I'd say the poster looks like one for another sequel... Good casting though.
Sorry but no. Robert Englund IS Freddy. I don't care how good of an actor Haley is, he wont be better than Englund because Englund is the man. He'll probably give another twist on the character and make him darker, just like Heath did with the Joker, but no one can be a better Freddy than Englund. Englund made Freddy who he is. The series got stupid but go back and watch the first few movies and how scary he was. One he started making cheap jokes and playing video games with his victim as the game character, fail.
Sorry, I've seen them all. Most people will hate me for this, but the fact is Freddy hasn't been scary for a long time. I'm saying that Haley will make the role scary again. Englund's acting couldn't hold a candle to his, he will make Freddy terrifying. Englund made an awesome Freddy, but eventually it was like he just stopped trying, or forgot that this was supposed to be a horror series. Now I'll keep in mind that's also the writer's fault, but he never did anything about it. He never said, "I don't think this sounds like Freddy. Sorry, I can't do this." He just went right along with it. In fact the only movie where Englund really scared me as Freddy was Elm Street 1. Try watching 'Little Children'. Haley was epic in that movie, and he wasn't even in it that long. We'll see what happens I suppose. Wow, this made my jaw open. We've only had one person play Freddy up until now, and you're saying that nobody could do any better? WOW.
1,2 Sparkys Comin for you, 3,4 better lock your door, 5,6, grab the propane tank, 7,8 gonna stay up late, 9,10 never order out again
Actually I feel the same way. It is that feeling that no one can play Freddy but Robert Englund. Its like nobody can play a better Superman then the late Chris Reeve. But I'll reserve judgment until I see a trailer/teaser.
At least with Jason though you could have a real arguement. There's other actors to choose from (I prefer Kane Hodder). With Freddy it's like you people won't even give Jack a chance. You probably wouldn't give anyone a chance. To you it's like unless everything is exactly the same, you won't like it. It's immediatly awful. And I'm sorry to say, but when you guys say all this stuff you sound like pricks. I'm sure most of you in real life aren't pricks, but getting mad at a movie if anything is differant does make you sound like a prick. Also, you do Englund is for this movie right? How he's excited about the special effects, a new actor, and all the stuff people are complaining about? We've just seen a poster and one screenshot and people are already getting pissed off. WHY? Plus, we have never seen this guy direct a movie before. This is his first movie, you don't know what to expect from it, and yet people still say it'll be shit. Remember Zack Snyder? Dawn of the dead was his first movie, but before that he just did commercials.
yeah well Whatever you n00b. I guess you didn't read/understand my post. I said Ill reserve judgment after I see a trailer/teaser.
That wasn't directed at you n00b. Just at people who come up with bullshit reasons to hate a movie that hasn't come out yet. I see it all the time, and that post was for everyone who thinks of those reasons.
Come on guys, let's talk about the movie and not kill each other over what is said. Anyway, I think this was long overdue for a remake. As long as it's scary, and doesn't have any stupid scenes in it, then I'll probably like it. Oh, and it needs blood. Lots of it.
..that's a good thing? Anyways, I'm still completely opposed to this remake happening. It is completely unnecessary (and I thought Halloween and Friday the 13th, the latter of which was actually rather good..but it's damn near impossible to do a Friday the 13th wrong, were already going too far). However, I've been trying to remain open minded towards it. The casting of Haley, while I do feel that no matter what Englund is Freddy, got my hopes up for it. Though there are things in regards to it I'm kinda iffy on, I'm gonna give it a chance.
Yes. If I wanted sex I would watch some porn, which I don't. Usually sex scenes in horror movie's just prove how the writers got lazy with the script, or how the director wanted to take the advantage of the R rating. The first Elm Street only had one sex scene, and that was to be comedic more then anything.
