Robert Englund is no longer Freddy. The new Freddy.......drum roll please....... Billy Bob Thorton. I know you guys are gonna say "IMDB lies like wiki lies" but it's all over the net so just do some google searches. Robert Englund said in interview that he thinks Billy Bob Thorton is a great choice. Thornton To Star In Nightmare On Elm Street Remake I'm a huge fan of the Englund Freddy but I think that Billy Bob will do great in the role. I love the way the story is shaping up also. So what do you all think?
At this point I think it is an untrue rumor: Moriarty?s BUZZKILL! Who Is (NOT) Playing Freddy Krueger? And BATMAN 3 Again... Already! -- Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.
Well, we all know Englund will always be Freddy Krueger, but now I think their going to more of either a reboot or prequel-esque just like other horror movies like Friday the 13th, Halloween, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. So it might be interesting to see a younger Freddy this time around and find out what actual causes that turn him into the Springwood Slasher and beyond. Like we already knew that, but maybe a new take on it.
I haven't been that impressed with Thorton's acting skills in the few movies I've seen him in and it'll be difficult to get used to him as Krueger, since Englund has defined the role so well. That said, I'd be willing to give the film a chance.
I could kinda see it. Don't know as I'll believe it yet, but I could kinda picture it. And I know this is a lost cause, but what, it'd kill 'em to make a new damn slasher/horror series? Criminey.
Thorton is absolutely horrible in general. I can't imagine him being that good as Krueger or in any role in general. I get why Englund is no longer Krueger for this new film, but I personally can't imagine anyone at this point taking his place.
Pass, whats the point? I'm sick of remakes, god, can't hollywood be original anymore? And how many remakes are actually worthwhile? Maybe half a percent if that.
Now see, I would pay 50 bucks to see a horror movie with Slingblade killing everyone while eaiting french fried potaterz.
Yes! HAHAHA! Just kidding, no, I don't know him at all. He is gonna be in Atlanta Laborday weekend for a HUUUUUUGE convention. In which celebrities tend to hang with my group...AND PARTY!!!! If he doesn't, I will ask him at the autograph table.
Why does Hollywood have to keep going back and remaking good movies? Seriously? Halloween was fine. Texas Chainsaw Massacre was great. But they have to go and "modernize" it to sell it to a teen crowd that would rather have some regurgitated crap forced down their neck than to see the classic original. I think there needs to be a 40-50 year waiting period on remaking classic films.
OH RIGHT! I forgot Englund was going to be at DragonCon. I might get to see him, too, if the line isn't too bad. I got cheated out of the Venture Bros. panel last year. Waited an hour, then they FINALLY announced that they were moving the line over somewhere else and I got kicked from 5 in line to "not going to get in the room." Hopefully things will be a bit better this year.
