I love the Universe line. It had some good fiction, some good ideas, and it brought over toys that had never seen a state-side release.

Sure some of the repaints were...odd, to say the least. But that was some of the fun of it, seeing what they could come up with. It was like G2/Euro G1 all over again.

So with several unreleased, hard to find and region exclusive figures, I thought it would be cool to have some kind of new Universe line.

    Wave 1 could be:

Deluxe Optimus Primal (Cybertron Beast Optimus in his Universe colors)

Deluxe T-Wrecks (from Cybertron Beast Megatron in T-Wrecks colors)

Deluxe Bumblebee (Classics mold with bee stripes)

Deluxe Toxitron (RTS Prime mold in Toxitron colors)

Target Exclusive Megatron (RID Megatron with a new head and in his Transmetal 2 colors)

Target Exclusive Animated Wasp (Animated Bumblebee, new head and in his Decepticon colors)

So please give your thoughts and feel free to create your own wave of figures.

I'd be up for a line like that because maybe we could get a number of limited-release molds (even if they're in new decos).

Animated Blackout, movie G1-Style Que, FE Prime toys, etc.

I'd be totally up for that. I loved the original Universe line even if I wasn't a fan of some of the "WTF" color choices. There's ten years worth of new molds to choose from now as well!

Here's a few I'd love to see off the top of my head:

G1 Big Hauler from Energon Rodimus
    G1 Slapdash from Energon Prowl
    G1 Trip-Up from RtS Windcharger
    G1 Hubs from G2 Electro
    G1 Greaser from G2 Volt
G1 Power Train from RtS Optimus
    G2 Windbreaker from RtS Windcharger

There's a lot more I think would be fun but I'll stop there.

This should be included with the next version of Generations alongside the FOC releases. Hasbro has already shown the ability to put the Henkei mold seekers into the classics line, why not make some money from those figures w/ molds that didn't get released in America. Like, oh, I don't know...HA Soundwave?

I'm pretty sure they lost the mold. Y'know, because it crumbled due to the GPS it contracted from the figures it made.

Obscure repaints aren't the FunPub's realm? By your description it looks exactly what the announced Subscription Service is offering.

That said, I will like any toyline that brings back Animated toys.

A line with repaints of figures from assorted older lines sounds like a great idea to me.

Given the volume of molds Hasbro's produced since 2005, I'm not adverse to a repaint/rerelease line for Transformers along the lines of Star Wars Saga Legends. Not only do they have dozens of classics characters and concepts ripe for release, but by this point, a lot of their Beast era toys are largely unknown to the kids brought in by the live action series of the past 5 years or so.

There is definitely potential for some cool repaints. The "Combat Hero" Optimus in that (maybe) coming Walmart set is proof of that, along with the Hasbro Asia stuff. Maybe more store-exclusive sets, like:

-Generations Scourge (in RiD Dreadwing/Smokejumper colors) vs. Gen. Kup (Electro colors, maybe new head?). With a Legends Cosmo repaint (original style if he doesn't get re-released at Dollar General soon) and Legends Beachcomber (G2 green).

-Scout (RtS) Rumble, Frenzy, and Tailgate (from Windcharger, naturally).

Plus the other figures from Generations/RtS that haven't had mass-market redecoes yet...

It would be great if we got some sort of theme or storyline for redecoes. Makes the toys much more interesting. Think the Python Patrol from GI Joe, etc.

why not just add these to the generations line? Is there actually a story line behind the universe line that i'm not aware of?

You know GPS is super-bad when it wrecks the metal molds that press the parts!

A revisiting of universe 1.0? yes! i mean,i think they can find ways to add some homages, heck they should experiment with extensive "articulation upgrade" type retools. heck they should make generic heads for retools as army builders.

There IS fiction associated with the first Universe line, but I approached the question from a toy standpoint:
The original Universe line was a quick and cheap way for Hasbro to expand their Transformers offerings at retail while not incurring the large development costs associated with developing entirely new figures.

Collecting through the Universe/Unicron Trilogy era, I've often found myself surprised at how LITTLE we've seen repainting/remolding in the last few years. Yes, we still see it, but once upon a time, you'd basically be guaranteed to see a mold's repaint within six months.
Now? We have some molds that have yet to even SEE a domestic repaint (even including club stuff)
