A meme, bare minimum, is a popular term, subject, or quote that is often used on the internet. They happen spontaneously when something becomes popular, or when an old topic is revived.
They cannot be forced, they just happen, and people don't get that. This is forced. I don't even get it.

A meme (MEEM) is essentially an internet fad.

A meme is actually more than that, and it's not limited to the internet. It's the "cultural equivalent of a gene", in that it's all the little bits of trivia and pop-culture references and ideas that build up the current cultural "melting pot" of the world. They are generally notable enough to be passed on to others and spread, thus propagating their influence.

I am a diehard fan of both DotM and Futurama, been watching the latter since before it was even considered to be on Adult Swim; that pic in particular was not funny, but general Clamps jokes are definitely ready for Topspin, when properly used.

Indeed, but what I don't take too kindly to was this:

While not directly stating so, you attempt to imply that only "die hard DOTM and Futurama fans" will 'find it funny'.

Directly, you only actually said that we would "get it", but indirectly (possibly subconsciously) you attempted to make the connection that others who fall into those categories would 'find it funny', I don't.

Well I meant most likely to find it funny. Something like that I kind of thought was implied.
