Oh well, I had to show it some time, might as well do it now..

Here's a still (preview quality/heavily compressed) from a short animation I'm working on with my favourite jet(s). It'll be called TF/Remix when it's done and it's pretty much your G1 Tf's in present day disguises and scenarios.

*tech info* The BG is pretty much ripped from the net somewhere and used solely as a lighting reference. That'll all change once the final lighting setup is done. No GI/FG @ 17seconds a frame, (with a little "cc" and compositing thrown into the mix to sweeten it all). 3Dsmax w. Vray. Custom model and textures, bla bla bla...

    Hope you'll like it,

Please click here for the sample frame.

    Njoy,

Ah, Silverbolt in concorde jet mode. Lighting looks good, though I think you need more texture details (like panel lines and rivets, etc.). It is a bit difficult to judge the model without closeups and a wire. From the perspective and size that you have it, it seems decent enough and has the look of a Concorde, so that's a good thing.

I'll be interested in how you handle the final lighting arrangement since I'm not that knowledgeable about lighting techniques in general (can just do simple stuff with Mental Ray).

    Hi Star,

From this distance you wouldn't really be able to see any of the rivets, and maybe a hint of panel line but not much. I need to redo the textures anyway, these are based on the Air France reference pictures I found and it's a sparsely decorated plane for it, that's for sure.

Lighting wise, 6 omni lights with shadow maps for the ambient light and one omni with raytraced shadows as the key light. Tha'ts it really. Octagon formation with the main omni high and away from the nose.

    Thnx.

Hmmm, HE is a Supersonic transport, don't know about the less violent part. I'll try some stuff and I'll add his budd(ies) to the shot in a few minutes... Their paint scheme's are ugly though... No use making a photo real model if the paint/decal scheme on them is going to make them look like toys :) ... Maybe update them a little bit?

Oh and everything in that shot is CGI.

Really nice anim, Cerebros - a good model and environment test (Terragen?). I like the camera shake too, but if you reduced the length of time it occurs for as Silverbolt passes, it *might* work even better (thinking of various movie sequences featuring aircraft flybys). :thumb

And as for the Aerialbots' paint schemes, a blend of toy/real-world styles (leaning more towards the latter) sounds like a great idea. :D

    Looking forward to more!

I think you can pull it off while keeping the textures but the Concorde itself is a little too perfect, I think.

The background is excellent though, and if you said it was real footage I'd have no room to argue. :thumbs2:

I agree; dirty the model up a touch; a little wear on the maps here and there. That should do it.
Yup; the scenery is beautiful, man.
