In this thread we will attempt to catalogue the terminology and variations in English that are unique to this fandom. (Disclaimer: Please be able to take a joke.)

TAKARA = A pantheon of infallible, omniscient deities who crap unicorns and piss pure gold. They also, incidentally, make Transformers.

HASBRO = A mischievous batch of neckbearded boggarts who meddle with and ruin all of Takara's brilliant ideas.

REPAINTS/REDECOS = The cancer that is killing Transformers. (Naturally, they are Hasbro's fault.) Fans will vehemently reject any repaint that isn't a Seeker.

SEEKERS = Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp. May be expanded to include Dirge, Thrust, Ramjet, and even that DayGlo loser Sunstorm. Seekers are an excellent way for Hasbro to pad the Decepticon ranks with minimum production costs.

NEON/DAYGLO = An adjective meaning "brightly colored".

HAPPY MEAL TOY/McFORMER = A TF which, from a cursory evaluation of blurry photographs, appears simplistic. This term may occasionally be used to refer to a toy that came out of a McDonald's Happy Meal.

BRICK = A TF with insufficient articulation. Almost all G1 toys were bricks, but don't tell the fans that.

STAR WARS TRANSFORMERS = Combining accurate altmodes with goofy, kibble-swathed robot modes and frustrating-as-hell transformations, Star Wars TFs are widely considered to be among the worst TFs of all time.

BINALTECH = Combining accurate altmodes with goofy, kibble-swathed robot modes and frustrating-as-hell transformations, Binaltech TFs are widely considered to be among the best TFs of all time.

CONSTANTLY = More than once. Ex. "I hate the way Hasbro constantly gives ice-themed repaints to dragons!"

@#$%ING EXCLUSIVES = TFs with limited releases that, for whatever reason, are out of your reach.

SCALPERS = The faceless, unseen shades who buy everything before you. If you find the Transformers section at Target empty, scalpers are invariably the culprit.

MICHAEL BAY = A collective entity that comprises the entire Paramount movie studio. Michael Bay is responsible for absolutely everything that went wrong with the Transformers film. (Presumably, everything that went right can be credited to Takara.)

SHAMELESS PRODUCT WHORING = Unobtrusive use of several real-life brand names in the Transformers movie.

OUTRAGE = The proper response to any vague bit of Transformers news.

    G1 = The G stands for Gospel.

TRUE FANS - the person uttering these words, as well as everyone else who agrees with said person.

BLACK - the most expensive plastic color, and coincidentally also the best base color any Transformers toy could possibly have. Goes particularly well with grey, teal and translucent red.

HUMANS - an organic breed of rodent that should never, under any circumstances, be featured in any fiction centered around Transformers.

POKEFORMERS - the true name for the show incorrectly labeled as "Armada" by Hasbro.

WWI - the established abbreviation for "War With In", regardless of how it may be spelled on the covers of the actual comics.

TITANIUM - a crappy line featuring poor excuses for alt modes, cheap transformations and sucktastic robot modes as long as it was widely available. Now that it has been effectively cancelled, it has become an outstanding collectors' line, with the cancellation being yet another example for how much Hasbro like to screw over their own fans.

If you can't see the difference between Binaltech and Star Wars Transformers, you may need vision correction.

BLACK REPAINTS - Everyone hates them, unless they are Skywarp, because repaints are Cheap and Lazy. But everyone buys them anyway, because black means you are badass. QV: Rap music.

KIDDY/PLAYSKOOL - Combines "McFormers" and "Dayglo". Insufficiently dull-colored and realistic-looking for a line of plastic robot toys sold primarily to children.

the plastic has a cheap feel to it- A phrase used by completists to convince themselves of a made up flaw within a particular toy to talk themselves out of buying it.

"WWI"- Damn it, Within is one word. (Yeah, Nevermore used this already. :p )

"Alt. mode"- Used in the event of hideous looking robot modes.

    "Energon"- See-through Transformers with Lazors.

    "Legends"- Midget transformers.

let's not forget "tits": the one thing most collectors don't have, and want so badly now that they seem to be unavailable.

I'm jus' sayin', they share several attributes. SWTF lost out because their robot modes were just slightly more ridiculous.

And based on one set of more than twenty-year-old characters instead of another set of more than twenty-year-old characters.

Hey, this thread is like some of the jokey parts of the Transformers Wiki... which means a whole load of people here will not get the joke, and if they do, they will get angry at this thread and accuse it of being snobby, repeating the same snide jokes about fans over and over (even if they agree and have made EXACTLY the same arguments before) and how Transformers is Serious Business that should never be made fun of.

Really, there's a good chance it will happen.

BABY BLUE - Any shade of the color blue other than the standard blue used for Crayola markers. It is the ugliest color in the spectrum and its use on a toy is an affront to anyone who isn't blind.

BAYFORMERS - A movie about giant transforming robots called Autobots and Decepticons led by characters named Optimus Prime and Megatron, respectively, who come to Earth and fight each other. It is nothing like Transformers because it doesn't look like the cartoon that aired in the 80s.

MICHAEL BAY - A sex offender with a penchant for combining pederasty and nonconsensual sexual contact.

Beast Wars- the only time story writers did not use a substance to get creativity and thus came up with this.

Rose-tinted glasses: a false concept devised by those that wish to make G1 out to be worse than it was in our childhoods.

Kids: obnoxius brats that ruin our hobby because Hasbro makes their products appealling to them first, and not us, even though we make up an infinitely larger portion of the buyers.
