    I was searchin' for some 90% Iso. Alch. at my local drug store, I wanted something stronger than 70%...had to ask for it behind the prescription counter, they only had 70% and 99%.....tried the 99% - WOW, works great !
    Soaked some Alt. Ricochet parts (his head/waist/crotch can be tough) overnight, paint slid right off with no effort at all.
    Plastic is completely undamaged, not even any discoloration.

    I'm sold.....its 99% Iso. Alch. for me from now on !
    Hope this helps.

    Yeah, it works good, but even the 70% stuff will work on most stuff with just a quick soak and some elbow grease, whereas I've had the 99% turn plastic into mush before if left in too long so be careful.

    but didn't the alcohol leave the plastic a smoky, hazy color?

    I've never had to soak any toy to get the paint off it for any longer than 10 minutes. So when you guys talk about soaking overnight, I wonder what it is I'm doing right to get it off right away >_>;

    Nope, I've had that happen w/ nail polish remover...as soon as it touched the plastic.

    Are you doing TF Alternators ? or some other toy(s) ?
    Some are much easier than others.
    Try soaking DVD Primes gun for 10 min. you'll be scrubbin' til X-mas ! ......:thumbdown
    My suggestion is for more stubborn paint apps.

    I've tried soaking for an hour & I end up scrubbing away for hours - now I soak overnight/no scrubbing (w/99%).....:wink:

    I've taken paint off Classics Starscream, Cliffjumper and Grimmy.

    I haven't done any Alts because everyone and their dog does them (not that I don't like the customs, it's just that it's boring now), so I can't speak about experiences with them.

    But yeah. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll go and look for some 99% alcohol now.

    so I'm assuming that the paint you removed from ricochet was the flames, right? I saw one at a local walmart the other day, but I thought it would be real hard to get the flames off. if that's the case, and you took the flames right off, I'm gonna go back and get it.

    Oh yeah, if you don't find it on the shelf ask for it at the prescription counter.

    Dammit. I thought this was one of Hef's painted girls who was somehow stripping the paint off of herself.
