I made some noise a while ago that I train in Jujitsu, which brings me to this point. A good friend of mine recently recieved his Black Belt, after 18 months of hard training, 5 nights a week. It was presented to him in a ceremony last Saturday night.

Cut to training this evening, he was going through his bag and asked me to come over and see him. It was at that moment he presented me with his old Brown Belt, which had been given to him by one of his instructors many years ago.

I felt greatly moved and honoured by the gift, and by the words that acompanied it: "Don't hang it up, use it"

I just felt that the perhaps the Martial Arts community of TFW2005 might appreciate some good news.

Isn't it supposed to take years to get your blackbelt?

That's nice... honor your friend's words: Use it.

Completely true. Allow me to clarify; the black belt training course on its own took 18 months, while my friend has been training for well over a decade previous to that.
