I'm looking to play guitar, but I don't even know where to begin. I know I want an acoustic, and at a price somewhere near $100, 'cause I'm broke as a joker. Any recommendations?

i got a samick that has a built in pickup for like 180 a few years back, and its still kickin'.

its kind of my no frills beater acoustic, but it sounds great.

with guitars there seem to be price breaks at 100 and 600, then everything else just becomes money money money and personal preference and less about if its "better" or not.

    so my vote is Samick

Yamaha F310, the best bang for your buck! Plays great and will probably cost less than $100 US

something on the cheap but good quality, I'd go with a yamaha. But if money wasn't a problem I'd get a Breedlove acoustic. Those guitars are just looovely

A Takamine is what I have. But all the other suggestions are good too. The good thing about acoustics is they don't have to be expensive to sound good.

Man I would die if I only had 12 frets

My main issue with acoustics is that even the standard ones don't have enough

you should go to a local music store around your area, and try a few out.....and find out how and what they are made of........ alot of time you pay for the name of a guitar , then the quality.

Just be careful, shop around first. Some music stores have great prices, others are out to rip your off.

    Small example -

There used to be two main ones in my home town. The prices were radically different from store to store - case in point - One had strings for 12 dollars a pack. The other had the exact same strings at 3 dollars a pack. The guitars in the one with cheaper strings, even when they were the same models, usually ran about 2-300 hundred dollars less. The real kicker to me though is when I lost a tiny graphite block to hold my string in place on my floyd rose (type of tremolo bar) equipped guitar, and went to the evil pricey one to see how I could get it replaced. They told me that they would have to take the guitar from me and order an entire new bridge for the guitar and install it for 500 dollars. Screw that. I went to the other store just to double check - and they had a pack of graphite blocks they just handed to me for free.

Alright, I got a good one for $53.00. It's an old Honda, and it plays really well. I bought it from my local music store. My sister has taken lessons there, and the guy who runs it is a cool dude, so I'm going to take guitar lessons starting Friday!

    Well, congrats and good luck

I didn't know there was a guitar manufacturer named Honda - is it part of the same company that does vehicles or what?

Also - please paint E Honda on it

No, I've seen the Hondos, and I'm 95% positive it says "Honda."
