Amy Winehouse has an incredible talent. But she is nasty in so many ways and she continues to screw up the tremendous opportunity she has at her feet. I don't feel for her one bit. Kanye? Kanye is like P Diddy without the talent. Sampling other people's music and getting famous from that. He is a good DJ, nothing more.
Actually Kanye has more talent than Diddy. At least West writes his own lyrics... well most of them. Plus he learned alot from the likes of Mos Def and Talib Kweli, which is good company.
Word. His "Graduation" album is pretty neat. I mean, it's got a bit of the P Diddy-style "sample other songs and make it my own" stuff going on, but he does it with panache - it sounds good when Kanye mixes it.
Not a rap fan at all, but Kanye is pretty cool. Yeah, it's sampling, but like OWaT says, it's sampling done well, and with a unique style brought to it. I'm on board with his stuff.
