After just watching the DVD with the wife and kids, I wanted to see if there was a thread on this classic. There's not?! WTF.....This time of year I'll probably see this at least 3 times and on Xmas, pfft, it's on ALL DAY. I absolutely love this movie and felt I had to start this thread.

So if you have green teeth, yellow eyes or 875 smelly hound dogs, tell about it here. Any story related to how this is your Xmas movie of choice, comparisons to yourself/family with characters in the film, anything pertaining to this movie or just reliving key scenes, all belong here.

It's that time of year again.....try not to shoot your eye out.

    Not a finger!!

After first seeing it when I was in grade 7 it has been a classic in my home. Favorite Christmas movie ever.

    Daddy's gonna kill Ralphie!!!

Total classic (though I'll shamefully admit I didn't discover it till I was an adult). And hey, it even has a vague Transformers connection, as the actor who played Scut Farkus grew up to be skewered in the desert by Scorponok in TF1. :)

After watching the movie several times as a kid, honestly, I can't stand the thought of it anymore. I cringe at the thought of the 24 hr. marathon of this one movie. I literally avoid watching TV for that 24 hr period, so I can avoid accidentally stopping on the channel.

I do think that it's a classic, and at least most people should see it at least once in their lifetime, but that's it. From there on the person can decide if they ever want to watch it again.

I honestly have no plans to ever watch it again, ever. There's just something about the acting that makes me want to blind myself. The story is solid, but that's about it.

I do have an odd story. I have no memory of this, but apparently after watching the movie for the first time as a child, I had the urge to find out what soap tasted like. Incidentally, I also know what that liquid bubble stuff tastes like... which might explain a few things......

I despise "A Christmas Story." Everyone else around me seems to love it.

It certainly doesn't help that I live in the town that originally manufactured the famous "Red Ryder BB Guns."

Each Christmas, me and my family have a tradition to all gather round and watch this movie after we eat. And my grandma hates movies.
That's the power of this film.

I think I tried to watch it once and only made it through about 10 minutes before giving up. Probably nothing specific against the film itself, but I just find most Christmas movies absolutely insufferable.

"Some men are Baptists...others Methodists...my father was an Oldsmobile man..." I lol every time Dad goes down to the cellar. "It's a clinkeeeEEEERRRR!!!"

I love Ralphie's cameo in Iron Man. I was shocked that was the same guy.

He's the professor griping to Stane about not being able to get the Iron Monger suit going. "Well...I'm not Tony Stark." He also produced the film. Plus in the deleted scenes he voices Jarvis.

Oh crap. How could I not know any of that? I'd excuse the professor and deleted scene bits, but the fact that he produced it?
    :(

EDIT: Waaaait....you silly goose, no he didn't. I just double checked and that was Avi Arad and Kevin whatshisface who produced it.
