Is Transformers Armada related to G1 as far as continuity is concerned?

Any connections between the two in terms of continuity are tenuous, apocryphal, and do not really impact the main story.

I don't even think they are connected in Japanese continuity, and they love to include nearly everything.

Alternate-G1 characters appear in the Armada comic, and Unicron is another connection (seeing as there is only 1 Unicron in the multiverse, who just gets around a lot.)

So they are connected, though they're not the same universe.

JaAm is the tie that binds all continuities.

I never really bought into that and I'm not sure how true it still is anymore, anyway.

Certainly it was true in Furman's G1 comics, and then in the Armada comics which were also written by Furman. But I don't know how well that still holds up given stuff like Prime. It's a Furman idea, and I'm sure he'll continue to use it. But everyone else... we'll see.
