Disclaimer: The original of this article was published in Figure-Oh magazine #162. The reason I provide this translation is solely to help non-Japanese fans who are unable to read this insightful article in the magazine they have purchased.

Something I did on a rainy weekend. Apologies in advance for any typo and bad grammar.
There is nothing very revealing in this quick Q&A article, but I hope you'll enjoy it :)

A bit off topic......but does that say that DOTM BB is 645 yen more than Topspin and Sideswipe?  It's not like it's any more complicated than the other two, or they went out of their way on paint applications.

I believe TakTom dlx Bumblebee comes with a Mechtech card holder and I think that's the reason of the extra cost, justified or not :)

I wonder what Kobayashi means by saying that MP Grimlock involved "doll-making techniques"?

I believe he's referring to the ball joints on the hips. It's a common doll technique to add the ball and then have that be the main pivot/attachemnt point for the leg and waist section. MP 10 has it as well. I can't remember if Rodimus has it due to the "growing" gimmick though.

Thankyou for the translation. I usually only read about 1 or 2 developers in interviews it was good to hear from more of them. Also, is that the entire design team?

Once again SydneyY, many thanks for your efforts in translating this and other articles as it is always a thoroughly interesting read.

I personally really enjoy reading about the Engineers and how they approach the brand and it is very clear to see a unifying theme from each person: Utter respect and enthusiasm for the brand. :thumbs2:
I quite like the little tid-bits of history and background that each member mentions and how that impacts their perception of the brand and their approach to their design duties. :)

What I find most exciting is the common theme that seems to be developing with the team in regards to revisiting older gimmicks such as Headmasters and Pretenders and wanting to apply modern techniques to such forms, but also, Beast Wars! :D

excited to hear that one guy wants to make new headmasters and a new lio convoy and the other dude wants more s3 characters like springer. Maybe their desire to do those will put them on the list for chug style figures

plus props to Tomoya, the fact that he made both United Jazz and DotM Megs gives me a lot of respect for the dude, especially considering he had never worked on any toyline before ROTF.

    Thanks for the translation man!

Jeez, those designers should not be photographed in "cool" poses wearing sunglasses. It just makes them look even dorkier :)

    But they are talented guys!
