They're greenlit through the second group of 26 episodes, which is apparently getting more arc based and more into elements of the mythology.

Awesome. I may have to watch more often then. To be honest, I haven't seen many episodes cause I find them to be kinda boring. I mean I like what I have seen, they aren't bad. I just want more of the Transformers lore and a strong plot. Of course, I don't know if the plot is good or not so far.

I gotta say, I do love the animation and the designs, though

They said they have at least 65 episodes planned. If this show continues to succeed, there may be more afterwards. And since this continuity is supposed to be the main focus for the decade that may not be off.

Even if the show did end at 65 episodes that doesn't mean the verse is done. This continuity is meant to sustain them for most of the decade and beyond. I think we could be seeing a lot more shows taking place in this universe.

Well we got two seasons confirmed and that gives us 52 episodes guaranteed, so I guess he's either guessing or confident that they'll also get a third one.

By the way, 65 episodes already makes TFP the second longest tf show in history! Pretty cool, huh?

G1 cartoon did. Don't remember number by heart but it was more than 90.

There really isn't a plot to the series. It's like G1 and the first season of Beast Wars - episodic. There is some minor continuity between some episodes but that's it.

To be honest I don't mind episodic writting but in this show most of the episodes are way too boring. I'm more looking forward to the second season since they said we'll be getting more mythos and such...

A quick browse of tfwiki gives us:

    G1 - 98 + the movie
    Beast Wars - 52
    Beast Machines - 26
    RID - 39
    Armada - 52
    Energon - 51
Cybertron - 51-52 (some shenanigans regarding #52 between Japan & the US)
Animated - 39 standard episodes + "Transform and Roll Out" pilot movie

I love that the show has length to it. It means they don't have to rush anything, and let the characters and plots develop gradually. (Of course, in some cases it seems a bit too gradual, but it doesn't really bother me so long as the 'secondary' characters continue to be show stealingly awesome.)

I also love that we're sticking with this setting for quite some time (I hope we can wrench a decade out of the universe, it shouldn't be impossible with enough cast changes, and setting switches.) - I get tired of constant reboots.

I hope Jeff Kline gets to do more shows in the universe like they said at Botcon, I would love to see a TF Prime version of "WFC", as in, the REAL show backstory, not tidbits from Exodus that may be or may not be relevant.

Not to mention it gives more chance for development of characters dead in the present such as Skyquake and Cliffjumper.

Only seen a few episodes, but this can only be good, especially if they plan on using this continuity for a while.

    That's good news. Prime's a great series.

...still... wish they could green-light another season of Animated... or do what DC did with their Animated Universe which was have movies released on DVD/Blu-Ray on occasion.

I often wonder if made-for-dvd movies set in G1 would sell, particularly at times when classics lines are on the shelves. I know a lot of us would buy them, would it work as a cross promotion for the classics line (especially if the animated designs were based on currently on shelf product)?

If 65 eps. have been planned so far, that would mean season 3 is intended to have only 13 eps. rather than the 26 of seasons 1 & 2. Wonder if that's because the producers are uncertain if the show can carry on for as long by season 3?

The possibility of a pre-Earth spin-off set on Cybertron and movies coming from Prime were very cool to hear. Let's hope the show does well enough to warrant one or both of those!
