Just got the TRU exclusives WW Grimlock and WW Prowl. The boxes feature Sound Blaster and Primal Prime as "also avaialble". I thought Grimmy and Prowl were the last two. Are there plans to release SB and Primal Prime?
It's possible we may still see those two figs someday, but likely only as exclusives. Although, I'm not going to hold my breath.
I think anything is possible at this point. If I remember correctly, back when Hasbro first said that the 6" line would be discontinued that all of the figures that had been listed in the product books would eventually be released. That would include the Soundblaster and Primal Prime. At some point after that with no new news about them I think we all assumed that the Prowl and Grimlock would never see the light of day either and those eventually came out. So long as those 2 sell well, which from what I've seen they have, then I think the last 2 will come along eventually as TRU exclusives again.
Isn't hasbro the company that refused to have re-issue classic g1 catalogs in re-issue toys because they thought it would be false advertising? But listing products as being "also available" that have no plans for release on a mainstream toy box, oh thats just fine. You think they would have just covered them with a sticker.
Spend a bunch of money to print up new boxes or go with somthing already available? I'd say they were just going the more cost-effective route.
I could see Soundblaster as one of next year's SDCC toys. He continues the pattern of the last two. 6" Titanium? Check. Decepticon? Yo. Black redeco? Bingo.
I'll take the Ravage that is coming with Hound. That think looks pretty bad, if the legs are stuck together. Never knew that there were pics of the figure though.
I guess it's remotely possible that they could get them out as SDCC exclusives next year. It would be a long shot, though. Both the grimlock/prowl toys and boxes were far enough along in pipeline when 6" line was canceled, it paid for hasbro to release them. I doubt soundblaster/primal-prime will ever see light of day. Stranger things have happened.
I don't know if they were already printed up, because the date codes on mine lead the manufacture to be relatively recent, however it could have just been that the boxes were already designed, and Hasbro decided to leave the pics as a nod to what could have been.
Well, you need to keep the size of the figure in mind. That's a lot smaller than the G1 cassettes (and, therefore, smaller than TFU Ravage). I snapped that pic at the Hasbro booth at BotCon 2007. I don't think Titanium SB and PP were ever shown anywhere else.
