When TFCC Piranacon came out 2 years ago, he was around $180 with S&H included on BBTS. That's a difference of $300+. Something tells me you can get it for much less than that.

Is it the molds or the the different colors you're after? If it's just the mold in general just get the BBTS reissue. Personally I'd never pay that much even for a vintage G1 combiner in great shape.

As much as I like the TCC color scheme, and I'm happy I got mine, there are a lot of QC/design issues with them that make me say you should just go for the comm set.

Most notably, all of the peg sizes are mismatched and off, guns fit in loosely, or too tight, and the pegs for Piranacon's fists and footpads are differently sized, meaning that you'll have all kinds of problems if you try and configure him in a different manner than he's pictured on the box.

I've spent a couple of hours sanding down and building up with super glue, and I typically have to work on it every time I bust it out.

I've heard a few other people mention it as well, I actually returned mine to TFCC, and when I talked to them on the phone they said "It's only designed to be assembled as it's pictured on the box, assembling it any other way may result in stress marks and cracking" replaced the pieces that had been damaged, and the new pieces were just the same.

$500 seems like a bit too much.

I think that figure misb is worth under $250 on ebay.

You can't mix and match limbs? I didn't know this. I have a bbts reissue which I'm planning on opening, but that sucks if you can't mix up a scramble combiner! thats the whole point. So I'm assuming this goes for both the TFCC and BBTS releases?

I sold mine for $180 MIB + shipping about 4 months ago (ebay averaged about $220 when I sold it). $500 is way too much.

Yeah, $500 is way too much; I'm pretty sure I've seen the OTFCC set go for less than that. If you're not married to the colours, the BBTS version has much better QC and is a heck of a lot cheaper.

I haven't had the problem with the fists and footpads, but there are definitely a number of QC problems with pegging in the guns and other accessories. I have been able to arrange the limbs in most different configurations, there are some arrangements that aren't possible because one or more of the limb figures have loose joints (IIRC, Tentakil's waist joint isn't tight enough for him to work as a leg on mine).

I don't think I'd pay that much for any G1 now, especially given the number of knock-offs out there, but I did pay around $450 for the Devastator Giftset back in 2005 (prior to the knock-off craze). Of course this set was completely MISB aside from one side of the box's tape had ripped. I have no regrets though.
