Comics Continuum: IDW Publishing First Looks
i hope that this new movie will reflect the books with regards to more and deeper dialogue between the TF, taking the majority of lines away from the humans.
According to IGN, who posted a Variety article the following was said:
The Transformers will interact much more with the world around them this time out as well, purely in terms of water splashing, dirt flying, trees banging, and so on. "Things splinter and break, they spit, they outgas, they sweat, they snort," says Farrar.
The Defiance and Alliance series has been really good. Dare I say almost better than the 1st movie. And I liked the 1st movie. Just wish they'd show Sideswipe on Cybertron.
Star Wars Transformers?
That scene reminded me heavily of the bars and grimy cities of Star Wars. I think that a whole TF comic infused with the verve of the Star Wars worlds would be awesome. We should see it more often. I'm really looking forward to the Drift Spotlight now. I just hope it's more than the few panels on display here.
Superb backstory for Ironhide.
They've changed the Josh Nizzi cover for Defiance again. Originally it showed Optimus Prime in battle with ROTF Megatron. Paramount must have not noticed issue 1 and 2 also showed ROTF Megatron.
I think they did something similar with the comic that came with the Club-exclusive Nightbeat toy, as well as some of Furman's G1 comics for Nightbeat, though the latter was for Furman's perchant for the detective genre.

The art is infuriating. Looks like they're going back to Dan Khannat-Draw-These-Characters." to wrap it up. Figures.
STOP TRYING TO HUMANIZE THEIR FACES! USE A LITTLE CREATIVITY IN THEIR DESIGNS LIKE THE ARTIST FOR ISSUE 3 DID! THESE ARE NOT THE G1 CHARACTERS AND THEY SHOULD NOT BE DRAWN AS IF TO EMULATE THEM! WHOEVER SIGNED THIS GUY UP FOR THIS SERIES SHOULD BE FIRED FOR INCOMPETENCE.
Also, the art style bothered me a little.
There were actually a lot of "Star Wars" style settings and stories in G1 Season 3, as well as the Marvel Comics. Lots of alien races, most of whom are basically humanoid and often conspicuously close to normal Cybertronian size.
I was never a fan of the Transformers as "space opera" since for me a big part of the appeal was their secret war juxtaposed with contemporary Earth... but I do think this Drift Spotlight looks cool. It's interesting to see how TF's might interact with other advanced civilizations, and how they are perceived by them.
Plus the art looks nice.
On the upside, THIS
...kicks so much ass. The detail, the robo-pallet in Meg's mouth. It's a thing of beauty. Josh Nizzi is a wonderful artist who can portray these characters flawlessly.
SEE? EVERY PIECE IS SOLID METAL. NO MALEABLE HUMAN FACES. LEARN2MOVIEVERSE.
WHINE WHINE GRIPE GRIPE
My thoughts exactly. This is drawing me in more than ever.
Cool stuff. Nice to see movie Smokescreen again. His colors look more vivid than they did in RoS.
Ugh, these can't be gathered into a TPB fast enough! How much longer for Alliance and Defiance to be packaged?
Gozer-Bot, that cover is badass. I agree with what you're saying.
The Drift Spotlight doesn't interest me at all.
I'm really digging the Drift spotlight already. I always love seeing Transformers interact with other non-robotic aliens. I especially like that they also show that aliens don't all come in the same size; some can be just as big as the transformers themselves. It creates a much more expansive setting for the universe.
I'm definately getting Defiance #4, but Spotlight Drift looks pretty interesting too. I'll be sure to buy both when I see them.
i hate to say i told you so, i also said back at the time in February that there's another nice one coming of two of the major characters fighting, one full of bulletholes. i posted one of the bulletholes with nizzi's sig attached () http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/220715-defiance-3-4-covers.html
If I remember right, June. If I don't, July.
... Harsh. much?
I think he did an awesome job on these pages.
If anything I'd like to see the artists at IDW laying off drawing every little gear and plate. It's too much. They need to interpret and simplify things rather than break them apart into 1000s of pieces. Some of the previous Movieverse issues were almost headache-inducing with drawings so cluttered they just don't read well at all.
