    Not really. Thundercracker is a jet, still perfectly workable in a modern setting.

    Soundwave was a tape deck, a mode that is irrelevant in modern settings. He's settled into being all kinds of modern vehicles, personally I think the TF Prime spyplane or the RotF satellite work best though for actual involvement in a story, a car works. Besides, as a spymaster, he'll pick a mode that suits the task at hand. Soundwave is the kind of robot who picks alternate modes to further his mission.
