NOMINATIONS CLOSED

This is largely cut and paste from 2016, but it should carry.

As you may remember, over the last few years I've done a few write in surveys, polls and a summary for 3rd Party Year in Review. I'm happy to do that again this year, if you'll all indulge me.

We're following last years format almost identically, check the link above for last years results. Next bit is important; you First place will be scored 3 points, Second Place will be scored 2 points and Third Place will be scored with 1 point, so it's important to rank your nominations this year.

I will tally the votes and get the polls open on 1st January so we can vote for Toy of the Year. Company of the Year will just be decided on the write-in votes, so make it count. If you only have one or two to vote for in a category, that's fine, just write those in. Because we have a longer nomination period, we'll have nine days to vote (closing 9th Jan) and then on the 10th January I will do my write up.

In terms of nominations, it can get difficult as there can be crossover and confusion as to what is intended for what scale, but write-in your vote as best you can and we'll go with majority rules. It's an imperfect system, especially with things like DX9 Hulkie (last year I know), but I would place him with small scale as even combined he is small.

I'm trusting you all to remember what came out this year because I have no idea, I really don't. Remember you can edit your choices right up until Dec 31st so if someone points out a toy you think is this year was last year, you can go back and fix it rather than losing your nomination.


Here are the four categories for Toy of the Year:
MP style - means of a scale and aesthetic intended to fit in with the existing Takara line.
CHUG style - means a modern or new take on existing characters across the Deluxe - Leader class scale. I would include all Cross Dimension and Reformatted here.
Giant Toy - means Combiner or Citybot (was PX Apocalypse this year?)
Small scale - means Legend Scale such as Iron Factory and DX9 War in pocket

The Top Three from each will go into a public vote face-off to decide BEST 3P TOY OF THE YEAR!

The Categories for Company of the Year are the same as previous years.

Most Improved Company
Best Newcomer (sadly no Mayhem Mekanics as it looks like our toys won't ship until next year   )

Feel free to write in honorable mentions, or even discussions and justifications, but everybody is correct with their subjective opinion, so be polite, and remember I have to go through and count all the votes so keep it easy to read at a glance.

Ooh, that's interesting. Phoenix certainly is a Giant toy, but he is also clearly part of Fans Toys Masterpiece line isn't he? Same definitely applies to FT Terminus Gigantus!

What combiners finished this year? Was it just Poseidon or did any of the Devy's conclude?

 

I don't believe the "small scale" category is intended for MP styled bots based on the description in the first post, but I agree the category title makes it confusing. @CZ Hazard can we get a ruling? Because I may need to reorder things.

 

You're right... I mistakenly interpreted that as minibots. /shrug

 

Yeah, with mini bots I mean Small Scale Toy, not small MP or Scout class figures. I'll change the wording, as Minibot makes people think of Bee and co.

I only asked because on first pass I did the same thing but then moved them to the first category. I was also unsure. Just wanted to make sure we weren't splitting votes  

 

There was overlap a little last year, but it was usually pretty clear which bots were popular. Regardless of Giant / MP nomination categories, I'm pretty confident Phoenix will make it to the voting stage, haha.

@CZ Hazard , can you up the original post to exclude KOs and KOs with modifications. That would make it clear that Mechfan toys bot would be excluded, as would something like Big Cannon from Open and Play.
