From my original post: CHUG style - means a modern or new take on existing characters across the Deluxe - Leader class scale. I would include all Cross Dimension and Reformatted here (including Carnifex even though you could argue he is both a combiner and a big bugger).

CHUG is a fan term that denotes a certain sensibility of updated figures of a certain size and scale, part of that imperfect system I mentioned in the first post. Other fan terms include "third party" and "Generation 1", language evolves with use for ease of communication.

Obviously yes, everyone hates Carnifex (!)

 

Not everyone...some just simply don't know what it is.  

Okay, okay...I've had my fun, though I truly don't know what Carnifex is by name. But the KFC/XTB question was mostly a serious one. Are we treating them as separate?

 

We'll keep them separate for now as we have in previous years.

1) Maketoys - The quality has always been there for these guys but finally the pin has dropped and they've realised that they can entice more customers by actually making cartoon inspired masterpieces, which is why the bulk of us are here, the Sunbow cartoon, as opposed to their previously 'inspired by everything but Sunbow' masterpieces. Their Contactshot is looking like it's going to be a real winner with the toon accurate head. They should just make Sureshot or Triggerhappy and I'm in.

2) Fans Toys- I'm torn on these guys on one hand, they have improved, they make figures like Stomp which is one of the best transformers I've ever owned and immensely improves on the previous bot before him just as he did before the one that preceded him, and Sovereign and Grinder seem to be as just as good as Stomp then on the flip side they give us robots like Lupus, Willis and Forager!? Go figure!?
