Well here is some much needed Perceptor love!

Well not really needed. And he's not really a favourite character of mine. Just happen to have his toy lying around and seemed like he had a simple and humanoid shape that might translate well into 3D at my particular skill level.

    Crits and comments welcome.

When you're done with the stills at the bottom, you can check out a simple movie of him transforming. (2.86MB DivX .avi)

Great job! Perceptor was always a favorite of mine. Him and Cosmos. Not sure why.

    You know what?

It never occured to me how similar Perceptor and Soundwave are.

As in: The seekers are all very close in design (okay they're repaints). Prowl, Blustreak and Smokescreen are nearly the same. Sunstreaker and Sideswipe are suposedly 'twin' brothers even though they never looked alike and have completely different transformations.

I mean, I wonder why no one has ever speculated that Soundwave and Percepter might have had simmilar WWi modes, or even been related in some form?

I mean if Percepter ever ejected a cassette minion out of his chest a lot of people would be mind blown.

EDIT: and I know just the bots that would be perfect: Slamdance. Two parts reporter, one part data storage bank. Who else would be the perfect complement to Perceptor's scientific mission?

Nice work, especially the render with the more toy-like face. Perceptor with a Jetfire-style battle mask - who woulda thunk it?

And neat thinking, Infosaur, never really considered it like that! Looking at his chest plating, I can see how it might've doubled as a compartment cover...

Never noticed that before, but now that you mention it, they do look similar. Probably second cousins, twice removed.

Before I started, I was thumbing through the Dreamwave comics looking for source material for him and noticed on several occasions that toy heads were used as battle masks. I think it's in Volume 3 where you see Brawn and Bumblee with toy heads and of course Jetfire uses his toy head as a helmet. So that's what I was going for.

That and just in case any die hard fans needed the toy head, it was done :D
