I'm new to the boards, and have been working on some Autobots and 'Cons in Blender for a while now....Redesigned his Energon Axe and a few other features!..Feedback would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks! <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f224/bruticus666/oPTIMSUAXE2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a> <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f224/bruticus666/PrimeSquat.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a>
(you need to use the image button when you make a message - not HTML.) here you go. Nice model and cool pose but the lighting seems a bit random and the chest/waist sections are overlapping a lot in the squatting pic.
Awesome job capturing G1 Prime. I don't know how much that mesh clipping bothers you, but the way to minimalize it would involve building a more flexible skeleton underneath the armor and possibly breaking some pieces into smaller parts. As for other things, the lighting and shaders could be better. You might even consider hardening some of the edges a bit to get rid of strange rendering artifacts. The easiest thing with the shader color is to simply lower the saturation levels a little bit. For the great, your posing works on both counts. Prime really does feel like he's standing tall, and ready to kick butt. A nice keen eye for proper weight distribution. That's important in selling the realism of your model.
Not bad! Everyone else has already recommended good ideas to incorporate in the future, so just work on all the points mentioned already.
Thanks guys, I really appreciate the positive comments! Although, note, Prime is far from complete. I wasnt necessarily going for a 100 percent realistic look, but its pretty close to where I want it. Originally, I had planned on hiding the clipping/mesh collision with camera angles, but I couldn't get good results. Thank you so much, it means a lot to me. I started doing low poly 3D work back in the mid 90's with Quake 2, but stopped....and I recently discovered Blender back in February, seeing as how I have like a lot of free time at work....so, yea....I'm still learning everything all over again with a new program!!! So yea, if your broke like me, and interested, grab Blender!Pretty steep learining curve to a newb, but nothing beats a free bad ass 3D prog. I am currently working on a Starscream I will post once I get it done. Should be up tomorrow or Sunday! Thanks guys!! Oh, and sorry about the way I posted the pics...Im a complete **** with that stuff....HTML and forget it!!
Hey, someone here uses Blender! I'm not the only one! w00t! That aside, the lighting is a bit WTF, but apart from that that's friggin awesome! Keep up the good work!
Very nice model you have there. I am actualy a fan of random lighting. Or you could download a free copy of 3ds Max 9 off the net, not that I ever did that
