3D Artwork: 3D movie-ish but a bit more G1-ish Prime (wip)

Looks pretty damn good man. :D  However, IMO the CGI head looks a bit, well, off. The way the eyes are positioned and their size makes him look like a friendly kid instead of a noble experienced leader; the drawing is way better in that regard. As for the drawing itself, it looks fantastic and is indeed a almost perfect G1 design, but the arms could sit a bit higher, or at least have bigger shoulders to make the head not look out of place. :)

I think the reason the head looks so high is because he's aiming for the movie's diamond shaped torso. Are you going to give him long legs like Prime? That was one of the best parts of his overall design.

Though something about the drawing just seems... off, but I don't know what, though. It's not bad it's just a little niggeling thing I can't put my finger on.

    Just a quick update:

Did a test render of some of the sections arranged into bot mode, mainly so I can work out how the proportions and what not are looking.
Also started work on the shoulder joint details.

THAT is cool. I would tilt the chest peices inward to give some flow. Like how the lines of Movie Prime's chest all flow inwards and down.

I wish that was the actual movie OP head it's great, more detail than G1 but is still instantly recognisable

    Hi folks, long delayed update...

The 2 gig of ram I had in my PC was proving insufficient and Max was giving me memory errors and crashing like crazy, but it seems okay now that I've installed another gig of ram.

Arms still need a bit of work but they're getting there....

...and yes, the is where the mud flaps will end up in robot mode:wink:

Wow, George, that is HOT! I really like what you've done with Prime so far and would say that this is a bit closer to what fans of the traditional aesthetic would find acceptable.

HOLY S*** THAT OPTIMUS PRIME IS LOOKING QUITE AWESOME!!!!

How in the world did you render this thing to look that damned flawless? you must have a ton of RAM pumping in your computer in order to render something like this, I see nothing but perfect curves and no polygons or jagged edges.

Can you post one of these at full size or really close up so we can see how perfectly round and smooth some of the edges are?

Very very impressive work you got going I really cannot wait to see PRIME finished.

    Thank's for the kind words:)

Here's a few wire frame shots of the model. It's clocking in at over a million polygons at the moment and that's without legs/rear truck.

After I'm done with this I'm gonna take a break from really high poly stuff so I'm going all out with this one.
