Hi. New n00b here. I've lurked for a while now admiring peoples TF art so I thought I'd share some of mine. Just the head for the moment. C&C's welcome and appriciated.
Oh cool, finally someone is doing a 3D Ultra Magnus! Looks pretty good so far, though though mouth looks a little small. I'm not sure if that's because the lips are thin or the corners seem to not be stretched out enough. Not too sure about that exposed neck wiring either, but asides from those nitpicks, it looks like he's going to be a great rendition of cartoon Magnus! Looking forward to future updates!
Very awesome! I can already tell this is gonna be an excellent rendition of Magnus. Looking forward to more updates!
Thanks for the comments guys. Inspiration on all my CG TF's is the cartoon models, with a few little artistic touches of my own. I always saw Magnus as wearing a pair of shades in the movie You cant really see in these small pics, but you can see his yellow eye's through the lenses. As for modelling, I'm using 3D studio max 6 Will tweak the mouth and see what we get.
looking good so far, I did a magnus years ago, he's nice and straight forward to sort out....but I found getting his hands in propotion a problem...so just think on.
His face is a little too small for the helmet. A good way to look at TF heads is to imagine the structures on them not as a helmet, but as hair. Proportionately, it will fit better. Other than that, I like it. Careful though, with the face. Keep in mind that his face needs to still be able to be seen somewhat from a side view.
Normally I'm not a huge fan of fan-made CG stuff (though I have seen several amazing pieces). This is definitly among the best, even if it's just a head. It's looking great so far. The detail, scale, and overall quality of the image are great. I can't wait to see the finished product.
Good start - haven't got anything to add to what's already been said, but definitely looking forward to seeing more! Rob
Sorry for the lack of updates. Been far too busy, repairing my car etc. Anyway's, here's the latest I'm trying to keep to the original transform, but not have him look bricktacular like the toy. And keep the stylized look of his movie version
That's quite a model that you've got going there. My advice for your model would be to make two models rigged to the same skeleton. Do a vehicle mode and robot mode so you can have an easier time getting him to transform.
Quick scale test. At the moment the thights look a little to fat. It's only low detail at the moment as I'm working with it to figure out the logistics of his transform.
