Since a few people have asked to see my 3d megatron model (shown in past thread) transform, i did a quick animation of the transformation for you to see. Since this was only a test to show the transformation, i didn't bother with great detail, e.g. facial animation, lights, etc. I could not find a way to add videos to this thread, so i assume you cant, and i setup a youtube account yesterday and have added my short video for you to comment on here and there if you want. My next plan is to build a G1 version of prime and create a fight scene animation between the 2 of them soon. look forward to your reviews. Thanks.

Nice. I like the lead up to the transformation as well. Is he rigged with a bones system or pure is it just keyframed animation?

Thanks for the comment. In that paticular video, he is not rigged with bones but grouped in a way to use the outliner of maya to transform him, e.g. rotating the center chrome, rotates the head, barrel and stomach aswell. The pivot point of each group is set at the correct position to animate and transform him correctly (very hard to explain in words sorry). The character has been rigged with bones though (in a seperate file) for the main animation video ill be doing soon. Thanks again.

Thats pretty cool. Kudos on giving him some animation before transforming. It makes the lead up to the actual transformation alot cooler. :thumb

Yup, and the animation just screams "G1". I think I should up something like this on my transformation animation, gives a lot of personality to the model.

Very smooth work, man. The lead up gives one time to get a good look at the model; I always do that myself. Good movement too; I like the jump and the slow stand. sufficiently evil. Personally I would have had the camera moving slowly too, but that's just me. The transformation is lovely and smooth (albeit perhaps a touch fast for my taste).
    Fantastic work. Keep it up!
(BTW, sorry about the delay in commenting; my PC doesn't like doing a lot of stuff when Lightwave's rendering)

Thanks for your opinion Draven...I understand how much time and speed rendering can take up,I have another pc that takes care of the rendering while i continue working, but i still wish i had 100 computers sometimes. Thanks again.
