Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure at some point Decemberist said the DOTM license had expired (presumably meaning they paid to use it for only so long). So that would block Sideswipe until such time as they get a license for ROTF or get a new one for DOTM.

A serious visit to ROTF wouldn't be a bad thing anyhow. If they chose the right guys to do, I think the new designs were actually the most interesting for that film. (granted a lot of those were secondary characters I can't see them getting to)

The DOTM license being expired is unfortunate. I suppose 3A would rather look and work forward starting with AOE and moving on with TLK offerings at this point. All I can hope for is that Barricade gets some sort of love in the future, even if I much rather prefer his original TFTM and DOTM design over his TLK one (still a cool design though).

ROTF still had some of the crazier/creative designs, yes.

Well, then it wouldn't be screen-accurate. 3A can't help that the filmmakers had Prime magically change colours when he transformed.

Optimus could use a few more bullet holes but the battle damage he does have seems pretty sweet. Contrast this with Galvatron's shiny new truck bod (if 3A does make him, I wonder if his chest hole will light up?).

WeiJang Evasion is cool but c'mon. Transformation or not, it doesn't hold a candle to this guy!

Okay, here we go. Comparisons of 3A, WeiJiang, Takara and 4Ever. The wide shot of WeiJiang is my heavily customized (weathered). I also included a shot of my pretty much factory version. The visors on the WeiJiangs are both from leader primes. Takara prime has also been helped a bit (added some paint and chromed the window edges).

Personally my favorite is 4Ever, but 3A is also fantastic. They are very different. 3A is a large living room display type piece and 4Ever is more of a desktop type piece.

As nice as the comparison shots are, I agree with the poster that mentioned that 3A's products simply fill a different niche than the other figures. Still, nice photo of them all together!

Somebody liked my suggestion to compare, so I thought I'd go for it.

It's funny how photgenic 3A is. He looks better in the photos than in person. Not sure if that's true of any of the rest.

That's probably because we buy (or want to buy) 3A products.
    Others are just trolling. 20170315_031804.jpg

Looks fantastic! I like how they distinguished the Bambaland exclusive swords by painting them up like rusty metal instead of the normal orange energon blades of the DOTM release. And the Eliminator cannon looks the same, it's just a regular accessory with this release instead of being a Bambaland exclusive like with DOTM Optimus.

So this is just a slight remould and recolor of DOTM Prime?

The paint job and articulation are incredible. I think this is the only company that truly nailed the paint job.

Completely different mold from DOTM Optimus Prime. This is his Evasion Mode as he appeared at the beginning of the Age of Extinction film, the G1-ish truck cab disguise that he took to better hide from Cemetery Wind. Deco is also different from DOTM since he's rusty and battle-damaged (you can see bullet holes here and there).

It rather just print out a poster than buy a non transforming statue.

We'll have to let Decemberist weigh in, but to my eyes it looks like the same mold with significant retooling in the chest area (and probably a few more details here and there). The deco is of course different, but given that they hand paint them (I think), the only major aspect of change there is planning the new deco and retraining who ever is painting them (or maybe that's not even needed- the painters certainly have talent).

    I could be wrong though.
