No, I meant that the Weijang version is huge, transforms, and looks very similar to the overpriced, non-transforming paperweight featured in this news article.

The 3a figures are 18-19 inches plus way more articulated. They aren't even in the realm of similarity.

 

The Bambaland edition comes with the swords. Blaster is standard on both retail and Bambaland editions. And both editions include a detachable battle mask. Full details will be revealed this coming week

Looks awesome! Really love the Evasion Mode design. Not sure if I'll spring the big bucks for this offering. Still waiting for 3A to send my replacement Starscream figure (damaged toy arrived in a damaged box) and pay back my return shipping like they said they would.

Incorrect. the Weijang version is 11.3in ( Wei Jiang Weijiang Transformers M01 Commander Oversize Evasion Optimus Prime ) tall, which is tall/close enough for me.



it also transforms, is very posable AND is far cheaper.

why on EARTH would I want to spend 4x the price on something that is merely bigger and doesn't transform?

They aren't similar for all the same reasons you mention. One transforms, one doesn't. One is 12 inches, one is 18. One has a premium full paint job, one is painted in certain places. One has decent articulation, one has fantastic articulation (just look to the arms and hands of m01, ugh). The only thing they have in common is that they are based on the same character.

I'm not knocking m01 at all; I have one. It's a gorgeous toy. These 3a figures are pieces of art.

I'm not trying to say you should buy one or you're wrong for preferring m01 for your collection. I'm just showing the disparities and that this is not targeted towards the same audience as m01.

Very cool. In the area of high end collectibles, I think these 3A figures are the best value for money - expensive all the same but compare what you get here to the Hot Toys Prime or the various statues (Prime1, IA, etc). But at 19" they take up a lot of space so not sure I'll be jumping on Evasion mode as I have DOTM already.

Most exciting is the continued development of the line into a new movie - hopefully means a AOE Prime coming - maybe a Comic Con reveal? Who knows.

As a side note, I'd love them to do Lockdown.

Indeed, but the audience for Weijang is undoubtedly more than that for this. The paint on Weijang isn't just "bits", either. It's a custom job by Black Apple, already added to the extensive paint applied by Weijang. As for articulation, like I said, Weijang is "good enough". The differences between the two are not enough to justify the price differences, making this non-transforming brick seem overpriced and irrelevant. I doubt it will sell well.
