    Not too bad.

The basic sets look limited in the legs, but everything else looks pretty good actually.

Only issue I have are the smallish heads.

Wait... I thought the sets were supposed to transform? According to the blurb, you disassemble and reassemble them into either mode.. That's no fun. I was actually planning on buying a few sets until I read that... Maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention to them before.

Holy shit, reasonable prices? Did not expect that. Not to happy about disassembling to transform, though. :(

Somebody tried to claim they do transform but I think it's pretty obvious they don't.

I might buy a couple of the tiny sets but I'm not wasting the money on an expensive lego TF that can't even transform. Better than BTR but still a major FAIL.

Eh, might get some of these. Would have been so much better if they actually transformed...

I'm all over these just for the mini-figures. I might have some interest in the more G1 looking sets as well, we'll have to see when I've got them in hand. The sets will just go to the kids if I don't care for them.

It was Marcelo Matere, the designer for the heads himself, that said they could transform.

Nah, I think that was always the deal.... they "transform" by disassembling and re-assembling. Which, really, makes sense. And keeps it truer to the philosophy of a Lego-style building toy. I'm fine with it, it's just a different way of thinking and it inserts the Transformers franchise into a different toy niche for this sub-line.

These do look like they have potential. Design-wise, I like the sort of G1/Movie hybrid style they're going for. I'm eager to see if the claims about the brick quality being far superior to the Build-to-Rule sets is true. While the Lego purist in me rebels against these a little, good brick quality combined with the Transformers name might be enough to override my prejudices.

I wonder if kitbashers will start making use of the heads that come with these. Since they're, like, already free-standing pieces.

I don't really buy Legos, and I don't have the shelf-space or disposable income for these, but man I still want them. Lego-man versions of G1 Transformers piloting building block versions of themselves is such a cool idea

I only want the little super tiny figures and not the entire sets. :(

Hm, I wonder how these scale next to ROTF/DOTM deluxes? I'd be interested in modding these heads to fit on movie figures and adding them to my neo-G1 lineup. :D

I think his definition of "transform" is different than mine then.

Different markets. The market for building toys is huge in the US, not so much in Japan I think. In Japan, it's all about model kits - but not so much in the US. Each company is playing to their market's strengths.

The basic look goo. The vehicle modes actually look quite nice. Ratchet is okay, though it's obvious you have to rebuild him completely between modes.
