Another figure we got to see and spend time with just after the UK toy fair was Leader Bumblebee.

Now I am a big Bee fan and this guy for me is fantastic, Battle Ops is wicked but this one has more of the movie proportions for me, its not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but its had a good go  

First off we will address the size issue, he is small in car mode as you can see from the comparison with Voyager Prime, he does however grow significantly in bot mode and stands as tall as Leader Prime give or take a cm or 2.

The Mechtech is very bulky kids however will love it, it has 3 electronic features which are the main cannon in car mode and the 2 shoulder mounted blasters all of which are activated by simply pressing on them, the whole thing swings in and out on a lever for either bot or car mode. It is a bit heavy for the main figure to carry in bot mode so we left it off a lot of the time we had it for the pictures.

There are no electronics in the main robot at all, he is simply a large action figure and all the bettter for it, he is very poseable with the extending arm cannon and battle mask, the only area he is let down a little on is the legs which can be limited due to the way the knees and hips line up.

Give the pictures a look and prejudice aside because its another Bumblebee I am sure you can agree this guy is worth a spot alongside your Prime.

For some reason his chest makes him look fat, this is a maybe for me.

 

He looks so beautiful and movie accurate, but that hunchback screams at me everytime I see pictures. I guess it's one of those 'in person choices' things.

 

Loving this Bumblebee! He looks very streamlined, and much more like the movie than any Bee I've seen yet.

How on Earth does DoTM go from the "meh, I'll grab one of two figures" line to the "I WANT ALL OF THEM!!!" line? 

 

Bee needs to lay off the cheeseburgers. These mechtech weapons are just ridiculous. Weapons of Mass Suction (WMS) because the suck.

Sorry for being so negative but I'm really not digging much if anything from the DOTM line. Hope the movie can at least make up for it :S

I dunno if I should get voyager Ironhide and this, or Leader Ironhide and deluxe Bumblebee... Hmmm... I also kindof want deluxe Syarscream and voyager Megs. But I want to save for Transformers: Prime figures and the US release of MP Rodimus!... GOD I NEED MORE MONEY!!!

I'm glad they include a little bit of figure with the Mechtech...sheesh.

I am glad it means no electronics in the figure itself though, usually the thing that dooms leader class figures.

Edit: ^ Yeah, agree that the all black wheels look very weird/bad/cheap.

 

He really, really needs a bigger head. The tiny one just makes him look so much bulkier and fatter then he really is...

 

Does Bee have a different license plate number?

 

Man, finally! No unnecessary electronics inside the actual figure to compromise the design!

 

Yep. I caught that too. He's no longer 4NZZ(Z)454 (I think that was his old one anyway; the number of Z's varied between toys and the CG model as I recall).

 

I'll probably be getting him since I am a major Bumblebee fan. Is he about the same size as Battle Ops Bumblebee? I love that they went with full black stripes this time instead of the stripes with the lines and I love the fin on the back it makes him look more sportier. Can't wait to pick him up.

 

crap, this looks like it's in scale with the other leaders!! I might have to get it  ..

 

Leader BB looks good to me. I'll definitely be getting him.

 

so all you people who think this figure is good CANT you see that its almost NOTHING like whats in the movie OR don"t you care?

Any chance of adding comparison shots of him in bot mode next to either Leader Prime or one of the HA bots?

I suspect I'll get him regardless, but if he happens to be close enough in size that he makes sense with my HA toys then he'll go from a maybe/probably (I have so many BB toys), to a MUST HAVE.

If he's too big to go with anyone, then that puts him in the same weird class as Battle Ops BB- and I'm not positive if he wins that contest.
