So I've been considering a 360 for a while now. There are quite a few games out now that I want to play to make it worth the purchase. Have 2 major questions:

    1. Is it pointless getting one without having an HDTV? I want one, but I don't even have the room for an HD, let alone the extra cash. In other words, is it going to look like shit on a regular TV?

    2. Any word on price drops? I'd read there were rumors of a coming drop in price, but not seen anything solid. I'd rather not repeat my PSP and DS moments of getting them a couple of weeks before a major sale/price drop.

I have my 360 on a 'standard' TV and it is still great, IMO.

I can't really speak about a price drop, sadly. I've not heard anything but that doesn't mean much.

I agree with GM. I'm running my 360 into a standard 28" widescreen TV, and it looks great.

Like the others said it plays fine on a standard TV.
However I do find the text on Dead Rising a little bit small.
    Other than that it's fine.

As for the price drop, not heard anything on it.
The way I look at it, the PS3 cost quite a bit, the Wii is hard to come buy so the 360 is happy to sit at it's current price.
Get one, it'll be the best bit of cash you can spend.

The way I see it is if there are games you want for it get it. Screw HD if you don't have money or room for it, the games are the main thing even if they are pushing the HD abilities. Like Boardwise said the text on Dead Rising is way too small for a standard TV. I can hardly read it on the demo I downloaded on my 32" TV. It is not an issue for some games so you should be fine.

I also agree with Boardwise on the price but it may drop at the end of the year. If nothing else if you do buy on just before a price drop just wait on some of the games you want. Wait for them to drop in price and before too long it will make up the difference, that is if you can wait.

    I only counted two questions.

Anyway, it looks fine on a standard tv.

Only real problem you will have is some games like Dead Rising were made for HD TVs, so a Standard TV the text will be a pain to read. Capcom knows this, and will not fix it, but they fixed it on there Lost Planet before release. When I put my 360 on a HD TV, colors were better and detail came thru a bit better, but overall its not that much better.

And nothing on a Price Drop. If they do release a 120 Gig version, I doubt the Price would drop till next year.

you will have trouble reading some of the text on standard TV's, compared to an HDTV, but other then that it looks fine. Things are usually moving around you never really notice any other differences between standard and HD screens.

If you really wanna see the 360 at its max, without spending a lot of money, just grab the VGA cable, and hook it up to a computer monitor :)  Forget TV's!

I'd wait for the larger hard drive providing its coming out within the next few months.

I also lack a HDTV and like my 360 just fine.

*edit* but I would have to add that a friend of mine has a 50” HDTV and it looks better.

Whoa whoa. I can do that? I have a kick ass Widescreen Flatscreen LCD Monitor I'd LOVE to use with my games.

Need to google, find out if they have 'em for my Wii too.

What kind of monitor do you have?

My friend uses his 23 or 24 inch widescreen monitor he got from dell and it looks fine.

But he does admit his xbox 360 looks better on my 52inch HDtv. I've seen 360 on a standard tv, looks like a nicer xbox game. Look at it on a HDtv and you'll really see a difference.

I've got a 19" Widescreen LCD. Which would be great to play on as it's a great crystal clear monitor.

I'd wait for the "australian" Black X-box with the 120-Gig HD.

Getting an HDTV for a game console is pointless. But having an HDTV already will compliment it nicely.

    Okay, one more question.

Getting online. Is it WiFi compatible like the Wii? Or do I need a hard line in? Hopefully WiFi.

About $100. I picked one up, cause my 360 is in a different room then the PC. Setup was pretty easy too. Haven't had any problems with it either.
