Just a rumor. Apparantly MC isn't all that reliable. Truth is 360 is overdue for a price cut - was there ever a system that went almost 2 full years after launch without one? There are some possible problems though:

    1) Some people still insist the 360 is losing money on each sale (though an earlier statement by MS would seem to contradict that).

    2) The extended warranties and extensive repairs/replacements is costing them upwards of $1,000,000,000.

With the accidental revelation that Sony's price cut is actually a temporary inventory reduction, the pressure for an immediate response is greatly diminished. MS would likely want to maximize the effect of the price drop by coordinating it with a big software release - most likely Halo 3. If it does happen then, I think a minimum cut of $80 is needed. It would put the Elite $100 below the cheapest PS3, and the Core below the price of a Wii (though Nintendo could have afforded a price cut the day they launched).
