You're right. I forgot there was the original release packaged in bot mode. I was thinking about the 25th Anniversary (?) toon colored version that came out later.

Neither did the second release of MP-01. You're thinking of the G1 reissue that had the DVD.

IIRC, the only difference between the MP-01 releases was that the second had toon colors and the voice stand.

I remember both versions being shelf+warmers in areas. I picked up the first release for $30 eventually and got several of the 2nd for $10 each.

Best ever was Armada Unicron marked down to $3.97 at Target.

No it didn't (Though I believe one of them came with a cardboard version)

FanToy's first toy was a trailer for MP-01 that was just an upsized G1 trailer

Incorrect, fanstoys FIRST toy was a static trailer for MP-01. IE, the one I got.

I just had a thought. If there's a possible redo of MP Ultra Magnus in the future perhaps the new MP Optimus could possibly have features made for Ultra Magnus to make sure we do get a transforming cab for him this time around as opposed to the last attempt that tried to but wasn't able to.

Ah shit, I remember being tempted to purchase that original trailer to go with my 20th Annie Prime. Then, there was nothing to put in the trailer, and I think I was put off that it wasn't official.

It would be cool if they made the trailer fold out in some interesting ways, like the original Battle Convoy sketches:

At the same time, I don't think they'll bother deviating too much from the cartoon. How many times did we actually see the trailer open? And did we ever actually see what was inside it?

I remember that. I guess the trailer that came with MP-4 made that obsolete.

Or maybe he doesn't pause when he talks. I know quite a few people like that lol. They don't take a breath nor let you talk and/or leave haha!

If they do the trailer, which is accepted as a given at this point, I hope they make advances to it like they did between MP-04 and MP-10's trailers. Don't know what it would be. MP-10's trailer and Roller were pretty sweet, which makes me think that maybe they could just do the cab compatible with MP-10's trailer, and for those that don't have the MP-10 trailer...sell it separately.

Aside from the articulation, what is MP-10 didn't manage to have?

Didn't the objective of the creation of MP-10 is to reflect the "toon accuracy" of the character?
And they still missed something? So are we gonna expect tons of MP retools of previous releases for the sake of "endless toon accuracy" capturing?

You know, I feel it's the Optimus Prime base material is kinda laughing on the designers.

No. Toon accuracy wasn't the objective with MP-10. He was part of the real-world series.

I keep seeing these pictures of MP-01, and I actually have a renewed appreciation for him. Kinda want to mess with him again.
