I have a question, did all of you somehow think MP Prime V3 is the ONLY MP we are getting next year? MP Prime V3 might just be the START of all the new MP's for next year, there's like 5 or so anniversaries next year, not just G1.

Galvatron and whomever obscure shmuck someone saw from a faded paper ad will probably get an MP someday. Makes sense for a new MP of the most iconic character of all Transformers to get a new MP figure for the 35th anniversary, especially when the previous 2 versions are dated compared to the likes of Sunstreaker and Megatron.

 

true... plus given MP36 with its awesome swap out battle damaged parts, hopefully this Prime will have the same... like with his left rib...

I think full reveal will be in the next Generation book if there's another vol. Coming this year.

Naw we'll get a full reveal by then, Generation book dropped end of Nov last year. Well have a colored proto by then most likely. I wonder if well get another sneak peek or a proto reveal this month. Im guessing P.O. for MP43 have a good chance of coming up pretty soon, especially if its a colored reveal this month.

 

I tried to clean up my bash a bit. I wanted to make it really clean, but I suck at photoshop art when it comes to bits I have to actually draw in myself which is what was required to do that lol. So I did the best I could. In addition to the re-posing from before, I at least sharpened up the grill by trying to recreate something like what we can see/infer in the prototype, and also attempted to sharpen up and darken some of the lines as best I could. I suspect he will look something like this, but I actually think he will look much better than this personally.

 

Very nice attempt. I'm sure the final product will convince most of those (understandably) on the fence right now.

No surprise TakaraTomy has slipped in a new version of Convoy in between MP-10 & MP-711.  

 

I'm on to Takara and their "+" versions probably a few years before they release the version of this everyone actually wants

 

I’m in the camp that still wants to retain the chrome . Chrome grill , chromed smokes stacks , gas tanks , possibly the head lights as well. I mean if we don’t get the rubber tires ( which I understand why people don’t want ) , I’d still want something to make this figure feel like a premium figure . I’d even be ok with the chromed parts being swappable like inferno. It’d be really neat to have 2 sets of tires so you get whatever effect you want .

 

I really just want a nice turn around of the proto.

 

My biggest problem with MP OP V3 is the hinge that's clearly visible on Prime's back (from the view on the screen at the Tokyo Toy Show). From what people are saying, there will be two sets of cab windows... If that's the case, I feel that the designer(s) got a little too caught up in their own ego(s), trying to make it a bit too amazing with a two-set cab window gimmick, and then sacrificed the overall look of the robot (just my opinion). That hinge, based on what we've seen so far, is very ugly, and will probably keep me from buying this toy.

By the way, I really, really, wanted to buy this. I've been looking forward to this (or something like this) for a while. I'm a bit bummed about it (life goes on). Now I'll wait for Magic Square MS-01 and see how that turns out.

 

From someone seen the prototype in person:

 

I was joking a while back that they could do a Ginrai method of transformation. But I seriously hope there are not windows on the back. I don’t think there will be, or they would at least be hidden. MP Ginrai?

 

I'll certainly wait for the final reveal, but my opinion so far is that gimmicks got in the way of a glorious robot mode. I don't hate the new design, I'm just disappointed with what I've seen so far. I'm not too attached to it though. If not now, then someday, someone (Takara or 3P) will make a design without the back kibble. Then I'll sing their praises and buy it.
