20th Prime was it's own mold. It's about 11 inches tall in 'bot mode, give or take.

25th Prime is G1 Prime reissued. Yeah, it was that small.

The 20th anniversary mold is base off the masterpiece size and the 25th anniversary mold is base off g1 size...

Although I don't understand why one would think G1 Optimus is tiny.
He's only about a head shorter than classics Optimus.

I suppose if the expectation was for him to MP sized, then a mold from the original G1 toy would seem tiny.

He's not the biggest toy ever, but there's a lot of awesome packed into his little plastic and die-cast body! :)

I guess it's partially because most people remember having him as a kid, and he was massive compared to their tiny hands... Compared to that, the reality of him must be kinda jarring.

I guess I can sort of relate.
While my BW stuff has always seemed to be the same size to me (the series I grew up with). After I got back into the fandom. Whenever I'd pick up a new toy. It'd seem a lot smaller than I thought it'd be.

Guess I'm used to the change now.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if people who haven't been collecting since G1 expected 25OP to be larger, given his price point.

Part of the problem was that outside of the TF and robot toy fandom, there was this perception that Masterpiece Convoy/20th Anniversary Optimus Prime was the original Optimus Prime toy.

You know, I remember my first TF toys being Megatron and Jetfire. So, Jetfire was one of the larger G1 figures. When my parents actually got me Optimus Prime for a birthday, I actually thought he had to be a minibot version or something (I was a stupid kid) and returned him. Yes, I know, stupid. I just didn't know better- I figured Prime had to be bigger. Also, I didn't take him out of the package, so I only saw him in truck mode, and you gotta admit he's pretty small, but if I actually saw how large his robot mode was I would have probably known it was the real deal.
