Come on, folks, remember the whole "Y2K" scare back in 1999, when technology would fail on January 1, 2000? Never happened. Just a big scare by the media (yes, call me a hippie for that one, don't care) to watch their programs. And 2012 is no different. Nothing is going to happen on December 21, 2012. For all we know, the Mayans were probably high as hell when they made that calendar, and they probably just made a random guess as to when their calendar would run out.

Nothing's going to happen. Get the hell over it, folks. It's BULLSHIT.

There's a whole shwack of theories as to why the world will end in 2012. The most plausible is that the sun has activity cycles of 11 years and the peak of the next cycle will be in 2012. The sun is supposed to release a massive solar flare that magnetically fucks with the planet and changes the polarities causing widespread distruction. Realistically though, the worst that will happen is we lose our satelites, so done bother buying any tomtoms that year. I am pretty sure I will still be going to work the next day, and buy a new car the day before. If it goes to shit, why bother preparing, you'll be dead anyway.

 

Sums up how I feel about it quite nicely.

 

Noone speaks about 2012 where I live.

 

Just break up with her in December of 2012 and sleep with her sister.

 

I'm going to use it as an excuse to not buy people x-mas presents that year.

"Why would I get you a gift, we're all going to die a week before christmas anyway =D"

And then, when x-mas passes and nothing happens I can be all "whoops, oh well. I'll get you something next year =D"

 

I'm agreeing with you guys that its a scare tactic about the end. Am I worried about it probably not, but if we got to go then we got to go.
