I've done some looking on ebay and it seems import (other region) DVDs come with all sorts of extras (movie is like a gift set.)
Any news on English dubs for a region 1 25th anniv. editions of these?

Maybe this should be moved to the General Discussion? Or News and Rumors?

Correct on ID'ing the bootleg; incorrect on the license being in limbo. Hasbro reacquired the license to all Sunbow properties in May 2008.

The only thing Sony Wonder (kids/fam music and home video division of Sony) did with the license was produce the 20th Anniv TFTM DVD release, and then shortly afterward went belly-up.

Why does E-Bay allow all of these bootlegs? More TF bootlegs than any other animation series that I've seen.

I believe the only companies still producing official G1 DVDs are Madman Entertainment (Australia) and Medianetwork Communication (Italy), both of whom dealt with TV Loonland before they sold the rights to Hasbro.

I would love a rerelease on BluRay and also GI Joe. That would be all kinds of awesome.

    Where are you from OP?

In the UK many retailers still sell Metrodome's complete G1 collection, Series 1, 2, 3, 4, Headmasters, Super God Masterforce, Victory and 1986 Movie for a reasonable price.

Now if only we can get Beast Wars on DVD here....

i threw down on some DVDs while actually in China, and they were very good quality and seemed actually licensed. but the fact that these are 10 discs makes me wary of the quality due to compression. my set of the entire series (+ movie) was well over 20 dvds, containing 4 episodes per disc, english tracks and 2 chinese tracks with mandarin subtitles that can be turned on or off.

Can this old material even become worthy of Blu-Ray investment?
