Im kind of bummed also that the Olympics are over. That gold medal game between USA and Spain was too intense. The officiating was horrible on both ends but USA came out on top. "not bronze or silver, we gonna take home the Gold. Not third or second, we coming in first, we gonna take home the Gold!" France kicked our asses. Still, just getting this far, not to mention actually getting a medal, is an AWESOME achievement, and something that will be remembered as a defining moment in Icelandic sports history....the little nation that could! From nbc.com: NBCOlympics.com - Historic performance captivates nation I was partying with some friends last night and we made an effort to keep drinking until early morning, so we could go see the match straight afterwards. In the end only me and my friend Tom made it all the way, and I recorded this video from just before the game starts: YouTube - Þjóðleg stemning í Vodafone-höllinni The atmosphere in there was unbelievable! Despite the loss, we had a great time!
Pleasantly surprised last night to turn on the Olympics and see that it was the basketball gold game. The only other bball game I watched was the first US vs. Spain game, where Spain got castrated. Nice to see a closer game. You could see how much guys like Kobe and Wade wanted to win the game when they hit those threes at the end.
Agreed. The closing ceremony was cool (perhaps not quite as epic as the opening) but I still liked Sydney's closing best. Also a bit disappointed that they didn't end with Jackie Chan fighting everyone in the entire stadium. Would've been sweet.
The US Men's Volleyball team has inspired me to pick up the game again. Time to dig out the gear and find me a league.
Man, I was so elated to see Jackie Chan, Emil Chau, and Andy Lau up on stage after hearing and seeing a bunch of mainland pop singers I was not familiar with, but I agree, the singing was not the greatest. Still, it was nice to see the ending with Jimmy Paige rocking his guitar.
I can't wait to see London in 2012! (ideally, in London!) To be frank, I thought the London presentation was better than the closing ceremony itself.
