Anyone catch the Opening Ceremony? I was turned off at first thinking that it was gonna suck but ended up sitting through it anyways and it turned out to be a damned good show and is easily the best opening ceremony I've ever seen.
It was impressive, but I hated when NBC cut off Jackie Chan's singing that occurred after the Olympic torch lighting.
Just finished watching it. It was FANTASTIC! I'm looking forward to the next 16 days, and I can't help but wish China good luck in the coming years.
I'm watching it now. Didn't they enact Ragnarok at the Winter Olympics in Norway? That was crazy, opening the Olympics with a end of the world story.
I didn't mind them actually. Just disappointed that they had to showcase Yao's comments ahead. Guess they had to stay with their scheduled time slots and couldn't showcase the aftershow stuff. Looks like I"ll try to find the video online even when I know how much I dislike the lyrics to the song.
I was blown away by the use of tech and the human aspect of it. With the opening of the drums to the "typewriter" that actually had people in it. I thought it was all done by machines and computers.
NBC, we will show you every heat of every race even the qualifiers but if you want to see archery, shooting, equestrian, non-running track and field, anything not in a swimming pool you can go to hell.
One channel covering multple games/events = epic fail. You hear that NBC and CBS? I am sick and tired of the lack of coverage for Olympics and March Madness.
I thought it was friggin awesome how he ran on the screen with the torch. It looked damn cool when he lit it. Go USA, UK and Ukraine! (I'm a bit of a mutt <_<) Go China and Vietnam! (for the man <3) Geez, so many to cheer for.
I thought he was gonna fall when he first got lifted up! He suddenly jolted downwards and I'm like "OH CRAP!" It happened again when he got to the torch as well.
I was blown away by the Opening Ceremony as well, easily the most impressive one I have ever seen. London has a lot of work to do to top this one.
The only thing that kept me entertained was seeing how many athletes were there for each country. Otherwise, meh
I dunno man. There was sooooooooo much money ($40+ billion?) put into this thing that I really feel bad for any country who has to follow this up.
^$300 something million for the opening ceremony. I'm still watching it. I wish Bob Costas would just shut up.
That was actually the boring part for me this time around. Damn. That just for the opening ceremony alone? I know the price tag on the whole thing was the astronomical $40+ billion number.
i am more interested if they can manage to keep the smog under control. they where very bad at it right before it started.
