The offical 2005 mugen thread share your mugen sites and chars and such
I'm still waiting on openmugen for the PSP.
I should get SamuraiX on that. He updated BoR like a freaking machine.
uh....do what now?
For those people in the dark here, MUGEN is a freeware PC 2D fighting game engine that allows you to import sprites, music, backgrounds, and movesets, etc. that other people have either made, or ripped from other games.
With a bit of digging, and a bit of coding, you could theoretically build up your own dream fighting game roster to enact your favourite "what-if" match-ups. Strider Hiryu vs. Superman. Venom vs. Sub-Zero. Megaman.EXE and Megaman vs. Megaman X and Megaman Zero. As long as you've got sprites available and the coding know-how, anything goes.
hmmm sounds cool
And here I thought this was gonna be about Honda parts.
I thought it was about the character on Samurai Champloo...
yup, I clicked expecting cars too. we should talk!
I know about it but the community seems to be complete dicks when it comes to sharing their sprites and such. Also they jump to the OMG you stole the sprite I stole from game X instead of ripping it yourself when they very well could have ripped it themselves.
I was watching a guys MKII for Mugen but he seems to have abandoned it.
Still waiting for a good Transformers MUGEN mod. Or a Transformers BoR mod. Either one would do.
I'd be interested if the program wasen't hideously dated and actually had some good original fighting games running on it.
I"ve been looking for characters and backgrounds for a while, anyone know where I can find any? PM me
There are two people working on BoR TF:TM mods. One of them is not me.
Mine is on the back burner, though. Marvel vs Zangief and Animutation Fighter 2: The Death and Return of Jesus H. Christ are higher priority.
Please tell me it will work on the Zodiac. I would love it
There's a PC/console version, and a PSP optimized version.
The generic version should run on pretty much anything. But it won't be done a long time, assuming I actually finish it.
I used to be into MUGEN. I would end up custom tweaking a lot of the characters I downloaded. Sprites ripped from CPS2 games use a weird aspect ratio and need to be scaled horizontally, which nobody ever does.
I gave up on it after I lost my old stuff in a hard drive failure, and because the MUGEN "community" forbids distribution of a lot of the best characters for reasons of idiotic scene politics. I'm waiting for a new engine to come out and a different "scene" to start up.
I always got the impression that its user base is mostly whiney teenagers who don't actually know allot about playing fighting games, it'd explain why they continually throw strops about distribution and why they think that mashing together a load of stuff from totally different games is a good idea.
Mr. Yak, I'm going to cut your sentence up. My apologies.
Some of them don't. Others are extremely picky about getting timing and combos accurate so that a character will play properly.
Yeah. That or they're just bitchy self-important divas, like the people in every other "scene" that try to form an elite.
Actually, while that doesn't make for very balanced gameplay, and the clashing art styles can be a bit weird, it can also be really fun if you find the right mix of well-made characters. Something fun that doesn't cost me any money sounds like a good idea to me. I always thought of it as a hobby more than a real game.
What's "BoR"? Never heard of it before.
Separate names with a comma.
