I hadn't been on the forums for a few days, so here's what you wanted... some of the better fighters I've played:

the King of Fighters games (I'm still undecided about the 3D ones, and I haven't played KOF 2002, 2003, or XI)
    Rage of the Dragons
Capcom vs. SNK 2 (one of the few games I ever pre-ordered for my Dreamcast)
the Real Bout Fatal Fury series
    the Samurai Shodown series
    Street Fighter Alpha 3
    Dead or Alive series

That handles a few of the better ones (and I love Double Dragon on the Neo CD, combos that were very smoothly executed).

Pffft. You all are noobs, no ones mentioned POWERSTONE! (1, 2 was poooop).

Apart being one of the greatest environment based beat em ups ever by Capcom, it also had a character caller 'Fokker', preempting Ben Stiller by years.

    'Fokker'. *giggles like a girl*

Dude, that game was great! We used to play that like crazy on my buddy's Dreamcast, freshman year. I only remember the little blonde dude that turned into some He-Man lookin' guy and his super combo move was the four asian symbols that appeared in the corners of the screen and then he obliterated somebody.

...and that's why run-on sentences are awesome!

I would have to go with the lesser known series "Fighter Destiny" on the N64

It was like no other fighting game at the time since instead of fighting till one fighter ran out of health you had to score points by getting knockdowns, counter attacks, specials, and ring-outs. So right at the start you could get a few points if you got you attacks in or managed to counter your opponent, plenty of strategy as you got into it.

Fighters could also get more moves in special rounds and some of the bosses were very unique and challenging (Joker was quite a challenge)

The best though is when you had to fight the cow, yes the cow, but unlike other fights you had to keep the fight going as long as possible, you beat the cow you lose, the cow beats you, you lose.

Some of the best ways to rub it in during a two player match was to hang off the platform and when the opponent went to knock you off you could grab there leg and toss them out getting the point, or just counter hit when they are trying to go into a combo run and then execute the Special Down.

ballz also had a rhino that would fart of your head. i think it was a rhino anyways.

i got a lot of time for pretty much all the capcom 2d fighters, especially the darkstalkers/vampire saviour games and marvel vs capcom 2. also star gladiator was capcom weren't it?

after some serious time with virtua fighter 4 i have to say it rocks hard, sega just need to spruce up the online...

OOH! AND BUSHIDO BLADE ON PS1! that game was hardcore, 1 hit and you die, lose a leg, arm or summat.

Samurai Showdown and Last Blade. I really regret selling off Last Blade 2 on the Dreamcast.

Super Smash Bros 64 and Melee. I cannot stand to waste my time memorizing a long string of button inputs to perform special attacks let alone doing a hell of a lot of them.

I hear ya, never should have traded in my DC collection. Now eBay and $$$ are required to rebuild it.

The DC port of last blade 2 is okay, but not great. The auto-supers really take away some of the fun and strategy. Plus you'll never see Setsuna's ultimate super desperation move if you rely on the trigger.

Which doesn't wind up being a great loss, since it's the only censored move in the port.

Setsuna should have been in CvS2 instead of Hibiki. That's THE ONLY problem with CvS2 okay.

I tried it but never really got into it. It was a great idea, imo, but the execution was weak.

Since robots and fighting are currently on the agenda, does Virtual-On count? I suck appallingly at it, but its still awesome fun.
