This is wayyyyyy too late to talk about this but i just noticed it, in the first movie, the tank's name is devastator, in the second, the construction bot, as we all know, is devastator. comments?
The tank is Brawl. He was called "Devastator" as a working name which made it into the final film because someone fucked up. The combined form of the Constructicons is the real Devastator. However, as there are multiples of the individual Constructicons, it is theoretically possible to have more than one Devs in the movie-verse.
That's what everyone thought UNTIL Bay officially said himself that he wasn't changing the name in the movie because he liked Devastator better. This was stated after the first premiere when people noticed Brawl referred to himself as Devastator in the subtitles, and again when people were petitioning that it get corrected for the DVD release.
Yep, and causal fans somtimes refer to this as a plot hole. At least Hasbro got the name right for the Action Figures.
Yes, Micheal Bay's an idiot. That's my comment. I doubt he knew, or cared about Brawl, and left Devastators name instead.
It wasn't a final name. Hasbro gave them the name Brawl, and Orci and Krutzman pointed out the error of "Devastator reporting" twice in the editing room. However Bay just went with the name he liked more and confused the hell out of audiences who noticed.
Well, you see, little old Brawl used to get picked on in his youth, hence his excessive armaments. He is also quoted as saying "Dont call me Brawl, im not Brawl any more! I'm... Devastator!" CUE TO 2007 Brawl: "Devastator reporting" Everyone else: *sigh*
