So i was super excited to hear about 2.0 Hound at Botcon/SDCC. And I jsut got him yesterday. When i saw the images from SDCC I knew right away that he would need to be modifed with Deluxe Classic Prime's gun for a more G1 look. I still need to get a spare tire and jerry can but those can wait.

Ever since I bought the Classics Deluxe prime/megs two pack, I always thought that Prime's gun didnt match and would work great for a Hound. I tried it for my Alternators but didnt work out so well.

Classics 2.0 Hound works perfectly. The peg lines up perfectly and the tab that holds Ravage, folds over and covers the hole I made.

So now it more closely matches my J59 Jeep.

Also looking more closely at Hound, without his brush guard, he looks very much like the Halo Warthog.

Also now he has a much more substantial primary weapon.

PERFECT!! I'm SO doing that when I get Hound! Hey what does his Bot mode look like without his grill.

And with that let Halo repaints commence.

Oh the prime/megs two packs are rampant at my local biglots. but at 19.99 kinda pricey for a store that sells overstock items.

    !!!

I really don't want to go buy that reissued two-pack though. Two crappy figures just for one gun?

    (I know, I probably will.)

Prime is fine if you address him as an Actionmaster Elite rather than a proper Transformer (much like RiD Prime...), and the Megatron is actually a really fine toy in its own right.

Not really sure Hound is the shotgun type, though...

I suppose it'd be possible to cast the rifle. Thing is, it's five separate pieces that have to be joined with pins and rivets. All the pieces and labor means copies would probably be pretty expensive for a gun this size.

    Shotgun? It's a Tommy gun.

You do have a point about it not being very Hound-like, though. I think. I know Thompsons were around for WW1, but jeeps weren't. I can't think of the prevalent army-issue rifle of WW2 right now. I keep wanting to think M16, but that was Vietnam (which would also work for Hound)...

Was it the M-4? I'll be back with an edit.

Back with the edit: Couldn't have been more off with the M4. But I was actually close with the M16... the AR-15 was used in WW2, as well as the Browning M2.

You are wrong. The M1A1 was used very much in WWII. Go watch Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan.

The thompson machine gun used vertical mags. Only the drum mag was predominant as a mob weapon in the 30's

The M1A1 was used for officers. Normal grunts got the M1 Garand aka M1 Carbine. Now it has been turned into the modern M14

Normal grunts got the M1 Garand aka M1 Carbine.

The Garand and M1 carbine are two totally different guns. The Garand was chambered in the 30/06 round and the M1 Carbine was chambered in 30 carbine. The Garand was the main infantry weapon used by the US in WWII. It was also the first standard issue semi-automatic rifle in the world. The M1 carbine had a detachable magazine and was issued to cooks and mechanics. The M1 carbine also saw sevice with paratroopers when a folding stock was added, making the rifle very compact. The 30 carbine round is considered underpowered and not comparable to the fight stopping ability of the 06 cartridge. The M1928 Thompson was equipped with a detachable drum magazine and was in the US arsenal at the beginning of WWII. The drum fully loaded with 50 or 100 rounds of 45 ACP ammo was considered to heavy and unwieldly for combat conditions. Also cost of making the drum made them unfeasible. Later Thompson models, the M1 and M1A1, were equiped with 30 round stick magazines and could not use the drum type magazines. As for the M14 it is loosely based on the Garand action. The main differnece between it and the Garand are the M14 uses a detachable magazine and is chambered in the 7.62 Nato round. Sorry for the long post, but I am a little OCD when it comes to gun facts.

And the gods have smiled upon me. I got this gun as a freebie on a trade here from the forums. Guy just threw it in there for the hell of it and some other guns. God I love the TFW community.
